Default W, The Movie

Oliver Stone is preparing to make a movie about President Bush called W.

Quote:
Stone has publicly promised W will be a ''fair, true portrait of the man,'' but already there are those accusing him of the politics of personal destruction — and, worse, of trying to influence the election by painting the current Republican administration as reckless doofuses (although presumptive Republican nominee John McCain makes no appearance in the script). Naturally, Stone vehemently denies all charges. ''Bush may turn out to be the worst president in history,'' he declares as he peeks into room after room. ''I think history is going to be very tough on him. But that doesn't mean he isn't a great story. It's almost Capra-esque, the story of a guy who had very limited talents in life, except for the ability to sell himself. The fact that he had to overcome the shadow of his father and the weight of his family name — you have to admire his tenacity. There's almost an Andy Griffith quality to him, from A Face in the Crowd. If Fitzgerald were alive today, he might be writing about him. He's sort of a reverse Gatsby.''

Shooting begins in less than two weeks on W (or dub-ya, as it's spelled out in the initial sketches for the poster).

Here is a couple of pictures of Josh Brolin who will play President Bush.

Hilarious. Stone said it will be fair although Bush may turn out to be the worst President in history. Yea, this will be fair, just like the mainstream media is.

How does it go? Corporations want to make money so they really have no stake in being liberally biased. They're just looking for the almighty buck. I guess that should go for Hollywood too shouldn't it?

Bush went through one of the most difficult times in American history. For everything he wasn't, I think he did a good job. I'm very thankful he was in office as opposed to Gore when 911 happened. Just remember that when Gore lost, he retreated to a liberal college, began teaching, gained 60 pounds, grew a beard, and showed his true colors under fire. I can't imagine how Gore would have managed an attack on the US.

With that said, I think its time to find a more articulate president.

Reverse propaganda. I guess all democratic countries suffer from it to some extent. I heard the other day that one of the problems we have as a country is that we hate ourselves. I don't appreciate a movie about W now. Maybe in 10 years. I'll be interested to see how it does commercially. Seems like movie goers are more in the mood for entertainment and inspiration.

I'm not a democrat. I think W 'is' the worst president in my lifetime. Don't need a movie to tell me that. It's all reality TV, sadly.

You must have been born after 1980 and missed the Carter Administration.

Carter was only in for 4 years, so my opinion still stands.

W's place in history is still in the works. His eight years have been a mixture as most presidencies are. So often is the case that a President is made by the events that happen rather than anything he starts off wanting to accomplish. Many think hes been the worst for various reasons and I can say I think hes been a disaster in dealing with immigration but he put into place policies that have made us safer in a turbulent time and he didnt run his term of office based on polling numbers. Much like his dad, he did what he thought was right at the time and has taken an enormous amount of heat for it. I am sure the Stone(d) movie will be a farce as was Nixon before it, which will get an Oscar nod while tanking at the box office. My question is when will they make a biopic of Jimmuh? Gary Busey could play Billy Carter.....

First four years economy was booming and the housing market at an all time high, life was good and he was the greatest.

Next four years a war on terror, diminishing economy and a failed housing market, and he's the worst. Sound familiar.

We could probably throw several multi-term Presidents in that category.
