Default When did your kids go to The Plaza?

At what age did you or will you let your kids go up to The Plaza/BK area? My 12 year old has asked to ride his bike up there with friends and at this point I have said no. I don’t think there is really any right or wrong answers as all kids are different, but I am curious what other parents allow with their kids.

That's a tough one, "trust" I think is the key.

Depends..........who they were going with and why? Was it to have lunch at Burger King and then return? Or was it just to hang out? I don't think there's anyplace or reason, that they need to hang out across the street. So-eighth grade for me-if they're trustworthy.

Realistically, for my son it was 8th grade - but that is with a big caveat - since we live on the South, there was no convenient way for him to get over there until the bridge opened up. Now that the bridge is there, I think it's futile to try to prevent him from going, especially since he is now in HS. As long as he tells us where he is going, and is home when when tell him, then I have no problem. At some point, you have to give them some freedom. However, if I found out he was lying about his whereabouts, that would be a different story.

i think 6th grade. but than i had lots of freedom as did my kids. and i have to say they all turned out ok, and as their kids have turned out ok too. but trust was the key. and respect... a little freedom is good... it really helps to make good choices.

The only time my child went across the street was when she started driving. It wasn't that I didn't trust her but so many things can happen outside the gates. Inside the gate if she wanted to visit a friend or go for a walk she always had to carry her cell phone and if I called she had to anwer it the second I called.
I know I am an overprotective parent but lucky for me the police or security never came to knocking on my door.
