I agree, I don't think it is in anyway a good idea to have 80 kids on a bus for 45+ minutes each way. I think I would have to consider other options too.

I had heard rumor that starting school 2-3 months late might be an option to allow for construction. I am ok with that if that means that we could keep the children closer.

Or how about having school 4 days a week and construction 3 days. This would be a radical change for the kids and the teachers but it might be an option atleast to get us through the major construction.

There are a lot of potential ways, perhaps we can make a list so we have all potential options on the table so the committee can work through them and see if any of them would fly.

I would be happy to bring them to the Joint Task force meetings when they start back up. I am sure we can come up with some good ideas.
And with this group always having people on both sides we can help get the options started.

Default Task Force

The next task force meeting is on September 18th. This will be the first one since the end of the last school year.

At year's end last year, the task force had come up with a variety of ideas for how the students would be handled (stay on site, off site, split them up, etc) and had began to look at the pros/cons of each. Thus far, there have been no easy solutions w/no cons. There was also a community feedback component that was in the works (incomplete) at our last meeting. I suspect that there will be a concentrated push on delivering this to the community to obtain their feedback.

I am away from my desk and my mind is feeble so I do not recall what time the meeting is, so I would suggest that you contact Principle Gulden as to the time and the possibility of your attendance.

If anyone would like to utilize me as a conduit for their suggestions or ideas (there are some unique ones in this thread), I am a member of said task force and would be happy to relay them to the group.

I just completed the CRES new School Task Force Survey. Question 4 is confusing in how you answer the rankings. 4= most preferred and 1= less preferred.

If you don't read it carefully you may think 1 is the most preferred option.

By the way, I think the idea of having Kindergarten somewhere close to RM and sending the rest of CRES to a single alternative school location is the best solution. Poor fifth graders pay the biggest sacrifice since they have to leave their school for sixth grade and don't get to reap the benefits of the new school. As an alternative, has there been a thought about moving just sixth grade to Albiani?

I should add that I was not at the very last meeting because of a conflict - I just remembered that, long summer dmaged my feeble little memory center even further it seems

It appears the survey went out. Thanks 2112.
