Default Update On "new" Cres Site

As it has been 5 months since EGUSD obtained the option to buy acreage around the existing CRES site I thought it would be helpful to provide this update.

The water well testing and monitoring has been completed. The testing involved sustained pumping for a total of 60 hours over a 30 day period in March and April. The results indicated sustained water at 80 gpm. This data suggests that water will not be a problem on the site.

A Phase 1 environmental site assessment has been completed. This study is required to look for potential hazards that might affect the campus such as Naturally Occurring Asbestos, lead, termiticides, hazardous pipelines, etc. On April 3, 2008, the State Department of Toxic Substance Control gave the District an approval letter indicating that all issues passed inspection.

The California Department of Education has performed an initial site assessment study to determine whether a school is appropriate to the site. The district received a letter of approval from CDE indicating that no major concerns were noted.

The California Department of Transportation, the County Department of Transportation, District officials, and consultants have met regularly to define the road issues. So far, no negative concerns have been expressed. All agencies are working together on road design so as to insure a smooth and safe ingress and egress from the site.

There is still much work to be done. I will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available. The district is still working towards building the school for a mid 2010 or early 2011 opening.

Has that task force been setup? Who is on it and when will we get something from them?

great news, and thank you very much Mr. Myers for using this forum to keep folks apprised of the situation. It's refreshing to learn of events directly rather than through the rumor mill, or from others who have a bone to pick.

As to the task force, my understanding is that one has already been meeting, and the involvement was solicited at one of the main meetings months ago. They are discussing options about what to do about school use during construction, or where to go. OR, is there another task force?
