I have heard many conflicting reports. I have a daughter attending Kindergarten at another school. CRES is her home school, but will all the students be staying there next year?
The plan says they will try and keep everyone there, but other stories say students will be moved here and there for parts of the year, etc.
It is quite confusing and I am in the business.

The new CRES plans are at the various Builders Exchange's for bidders to look at. There is a mandatory pre-bid conference on 4-22 and the school goes to bid on 5-12. Included in the bid packet is the new school as well as the realignment of SR16 and Kiefer.
It appears the school will be built in two phases. The classroom buildings first while the kids are in school and then they will move the students to the new school, tear down the old one and finish the playground where the old school was.
They will have to hurry and award so building can commence once school is out.

In the "Real World" if Bids are due May 12 how many days, average, before the Award is made?

Facilities and Planning would validate the bids and make a recommendation to the board to award to the lowest competent bid. It would probably be the next board meeting after May 12th. Went to the EGUSD site but I cannot find May meeting dates.

Went to the pre-bid meeting this afternoon. There were about 80 contractors, subs and suppliers there. They planned the meeting specifically at 2 PM to show the contractors the challenges of the current school and what to expect for traffic while they are building.
Completion Phase I Construction (Buildings): 8-7-10
Start Phase II Construction (Demo old school and build playground): 8-8-10
Complete Phase II Construction (Demo old school and build playground): 11-26-10
OK teachers, the best classroom is going to be on the southeast corner of the two story classroom building. Approximately 60 feet above the current ground level with fantastic views of the Sierra Nevada and the Cosumnes River. I'm thinking Mr. Gulden may move his office.

you know what's funny...is now that the process is serious, and people see that this is going to happen, the buzz about it all has died down.
I guarantee (unfortunately) as soon as someone is late for work, or has to adjust their schedule to accommodate this excellent long term project, we'll be all in a snit around here again.
anyway...thank you to everyone who has worked proactively and tirelessly to make this new school a priority, and something we can look forward to.
(I'll still eat some humble pie just to remind me that it's important to not gloat).
