Default “Jump Start” for new middle school students

Jump Start Middle School is a voluntary program designed to assist incoming 7th grade students in making a successful transition from elementary school to middle school. Students will attend the program at their home middle school August 13-15, 2008. Over the course of the three-day program, students learn how to navigate their middle school campus by attending three classes daily – math/science, English/social science and advocacy. While in class, students learn strategies to help them achieve success in middle school.

Jump Start is an excellent program for our incoming 7th grade students,” said Sara Noguchi, Ed.D., director of secondary education for Elk Grove Unified. “This program not only helps to ease the anxiety of the new 7th graders, but it also calms parents’ concerns about their child’s safe and successful transition to middle school as well.”
