Default What's going with Russia?

First they attack Georgia and noiw threaten Poland.

Russia could strike Poland over U.S. shield - Ifax | World | Reuters

"A top Russian general on Friday said Poland's deal with the United States to set up parts of a missile defence shield on Polish territory lays it open to a possible military strike, a Russian news agency reported.

Col-General Anatoliy Nogovitsyn, deputy chief of the general staff, told Interfax that Russian military doctrine would allow for a possible nuclear strike."

Does the world have a problem?

Yeppers, Russia.

1. The Ruskies know that The US Populace is tired of War (Iraq).

2. The Ruskies know we may be on the verge of Electing a President with a total of Zero (0) Days of Foreign Experience, a President with a total of 143 Working Days in the US Senate (Sen. Obama). The Ruskies know that so far Senator Obama has not made any solid Foreign Policies other than "being a Citizen of The World" and bringing The United Nations into the fray. The United Nations would bring in Blue Hats.

3. The Ruskies know that the other Candidate has supported the US Involvement in Iraq, strongly, and if they shake up the World, particularly The US, uninformed Voters in the US, who are "War Weary", may shy away from The Candidate that would cause them the most trouble (Senator McCain).

4. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili of Georgia is not the best liked Guy in Georgia and I believe that The Ruskies know that.

5. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili is taking Georgia down the trail to becoming very "Western", including Democratic Elections. The Ruskies don't like Democratic Elections in their back yard. I am suprised if this is a very important reason except for the fact that The US is actively assisting The Georgia Military and The Ruskies may want to set an example.

6. There are reports that Georgia sent Troops to South Ossetia, a little "No Mans' area where the South Ossetians want to, it is reported by the European Press, reunite with Ruskia. The Georgia Offense was met by The Ruskian Defense, and The Ruskians just kept going.

The question I ask is how did we not know this buildup was going on along the Border? Maybe a couple of hundred Ruskian Tanks and assorted vehicles showed up as a bunch of Tourist Busses on our Satellite Spy dealies. I do not believe that our Spooks were not aware of that buildup.

One thing to remember, and a very important thing to remember is that, unlike a Country that I know (USA) the Ruskians have been very actively searching, drilling and selling Oil and Natural Gas. Ruskia has become Energy Independent (unlike a Country I know) and now provides much, if not all, of Europe, minus The UK, with Natural Gas. I don't think that Europe wants to spit on the flame that keeps them Warm in the Winter. Russia now has $$$$, big time, from their sales of Oil and Natural Gas, $$$$ that can buy guns, etc. A while back The Ruskies decided to "Drill Here, Drill Now, Save Rubels". It worked.

(Sen. Reid, CongressPerson Palosi, please read the above paragraph and think on it. Hard).

It has taken me 45 minutes to type this and in the mean time you may have found better, or different, explanations.

I don't care.

You will get Posts with a lot of Links to follow, that might be a good thing, but I wanted to tell you what I know.

And this all happened on Bush's watch. Not blaming him, just saying let's not blame Obama before he has even made it to the Whitehouse. By the way, I am not concerned with Obama being President during the crisis.

It also doesn't help that we are trying to put ABM's in Poland either. How ABM's protect Europe from missiles in Iran I do not understand. Maybe if we have a rocket scientist among us who can explain the logic of trying to shoot down a missile when it is on the last leg of its trajectory into Europe rather than trying to shoot it down in its boost phase. Look at a map, it's about 2,500 miles from Tehran to Warsaw and about 700 miles from Moscow to Warsaw. This doesn't pass the smell test to me or apparently Russia either.

Sorry for the slight hijack.

I have no doubt that Russia, China, Iran, North Korean, Cuba and Venezula would like nothing better than to have Barak Obama Elected. Why do you think that would be?

Don't worry, he's not. He still has to be Elected.

Thinking like a Ruskie now, are we? There are a lot of Guys/Gals that are way above my Pay Scale, all around The World, that like the smell.

In the case of Russia, China, Al Queda and others, it seems our country is fairly ignorant of our potential adversaries. I am reminded of a quote by Sun Tzu from the Art of War:

"So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will fight without danger in battles.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.
"

Thinking like your enemy has it's advantages.

I am reminded of a Quote from Noted Cow Chaser, Car Mechanic, Tobacco Spitter and Womanizer Charlie "Dead Fish" Thompson:

"You don't know squat about what everybody else knows. You just think you know, but you don't know squat".

Quote made after a few Bourbons and Coke one Payday Friday, Steamboat Srpings, CO.
