Why has President Borat Obuma not publically addressed this situation? He's had a long time connection to this organization, yet I have failed to see or hear one word from our endeared President Borat. Has anyone else? Where is the MSM on this? Why is this not front page news on every paper, website, news station? What is going on in this country? A Senator calls President Borat a liar (which he is) and the media wants to hang him, Obuma's pet community organization promotes tax evasion and prostitution and not a word. Is this what our young men and women are dieing for to defend? I am truly at a loss, just as I have been for the last 9 months. This country is a sinking ship in a socialistic cesspool without any life rafts.

The furthest left side of my family maintains that "Obama is only remotely connected to ACORN... very very remotely". I only briefly researched this, I thought he was a board member? Do you all have a source for me I can read and forward? Thanks.

Stanley Kurtz did a lot of Background on Senator Obama, before the Presidential Election.

Very looong Article:

"Sure enough, a bit of digging into Obama’s years in the Illinois State Senate indicates strong concern with Acorn’s signature issues, as well as meetings with Acorn and the introduction by Obama of Acorn-friendly legislation on the living wage and banking practices. You begin to wonder whether, in his Springfield days, Obama might have best been characterized as “the Senator from Acorn.”'

Nothing against your family Ping, but that's what the lefties do. They only believe what they want to believe and very rarely want to look at the hard truth. Just as the Dems in Congress didn't want to look at the hard truth when it came to Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac 4 years ago at the pleading of the Republicans. They didn't want to see the crash coming, now it rest at their feet. But you wouldn't know it because the MSM blamed it all on Bush and the libs fell for it hook line and sinker. It was easier to blame Bush than to admit it was the Dems fault. The libs wanted to share the American dream of home ownership with people who couldn't afford it and now we all paying the price. Organizations like ACORN were leading the charge, and one of their own is now the President. So it's pretty obvious why the MSM is trying to sweep this under the rug.

Thanks for the source Ranch. And yes, I think you are right Bird. My fam has their heads in the NY Times and their TV's tuned to Olbermann. They aren't interested in all sides of the issues or maybe even what's the right info. I bone up and throw stuff out there when the worst of it gets aired. Otherwise I feel like I'm part of the problem. Here's something interesting that happened at a family swim party:

Son jumps in pool wearing American Flag swim trunks
11 yo Nephew looking at Son's swim trunks: " Oh. Well, we are Democrats."

ACORN affiliate: We’d like $6 million more in taxpayer money, please

posted at 8:27 pm on September 14, 2009 by Allahpundit

Pelosi’s going to do everything she can to avoid a vote on the Senate measure that passed today so let’s throw as much wood on the fire as we can. Smell that smoke, Nancy:
ACORN Institute has filed two separate applications with the Commerce Department [for stimulus money]. One in the amount of $3,172,042 and the other in amount of $2,999,903.
The grant description reads as follows:
“The Digital Empowerment Project bridges the digital divide in low-income and minority populations by promoting adoption through grassroots outreach, training participants in computer centers; and providing in-home computers and broadband access. This approach is based on research-driven practices and ensures an efficient and scalable effort to facilitate broadband in disadvantaged populations.”…
As The Examiner has previously reported, ACORN remains eligible for over $8 billion in federal funding through stimulus money and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Meanwhile, Jonah Goldberg enjoys the cosmic irony of ACORN becoming radioactive under “their dream president.” I’ve wracked my brain trying to come up with a devil’s-advocate defense of the group and here’s the pathetic best I can do: Hannah Giles looks like a movie star, which makes her about as convincing a prostitute as Julia Roberts in “Pretty Woman.” If that didn’t set off any alarm bells at ACORN, they must not be used to dealing with pimps and their clientele. Good enough? No, not for me either. Incidentally, I’m hearing through the grapevine that there might perhaps, maybe, possibly, perchance be a few videos from her and O’Keefe still to come. You’ll want to keep your browser pointed right here this week when you log on in the morning.

Breaking: Senate votes to cut off federal funding for ACORN;

Update: Child-Whoring Pimp Assistance 7 identified;

Update: Brooklyn DA “taking a look”;

Update: ACORN disappointed

posted at 6:03 pm on September 14, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

Senator Mike Johanns (R-NE) introduced an amendment to the HUD and Transportation appropriation bill to strip ACORN of all federal funding. A week ago, Johanns wouldn’t have gotten the amendment to the floor. Today, however, after three straight days of BigGovernment.com’s video exposés of ACORN offices in Washington DC, New York City, and Baltimore offering assistance to pimping, tax evasion, and trafficking in underage Salvadorean girls, Johanns not only got his vote — but he got an impressive bipartisan showing. The Senate passed the Johanns amendment 83-7.

At the beginning of the vote, it appeared that Democrats might resist.

Initially, a half-dozen Democrats cast votes in opposition to the amendment. A few more cast votes against it as the rest of the Senate voted, but the tide appeared to shift. More and more Democrats signed onto the amendment, and votes started changing. One male voice could be heard in the chamber saying, “I want to change my vote!” Among those who changed their votes: Tom Udall (D-NM), Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), and Herb Kohl (D-WI).

I do not have the official roll call record of the vote yet, but three of the seven Democrats voting against the bill were Dick Durbin (D-IL), Roland Burris (D-IL), and Bernie Sanders (I-VT). I’ll get the rest in a few minutes, but it’s worth repeating what Jim Geraghty said on the Twitter stream: “Who were the seven Child-Whoring Pimp Assistance Program defenders?”
The big question will be whether the House follows suit. Nancy Pelosi may not be inclined to let an amendment come to the floor, but James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles may not be done yet, either. A few more of these videos and even Pelosi will have little choice but to slam the door on ACORN. The big test will be whether the Johanns amendment survives a conference committee. This isn’t over yet.

Update: Thanks to Sean Hackbarth, we have the list of seven nays on the amendment so that the Child-Whoring Pimp Assitance 7 can be publicly identified:
  • Dick Durbin (D-IL)
  • Roland Burris (D-IL)
  • Robert Casey (D-PA)
  • Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY)
  • Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
  • Bernie Sanders (I-VT)
  • Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)
So can we assume that Illinois and Vermont are especially sympathetic to child-whoring pimp assistance?

Update (AP): Man, this house of cards is toppling fast:
Meanwhile, Jerry Schmetterer, director of public information for the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, told FOXNews.com that officials will be “taking a look” into Brooklyn’s ACORN office.
“We are going to be taking a look at the situation,” Schmetterer said Monday.
A spokesman for Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., said ACORN’S tax status as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization should also be probed.
“We’ve already seen the Census Bureau severe its tie with ACORN,” the spokesman, Kurt Bardella, told FOXNews.com. “Certainly, as an organization being subsidized by taxpayer dollars, their relationship with other government entities should be called into question, and whether or not it’s appropriate for them to receive taxpayer dollars.”
Has The One opened his mouth yet to say anything about his pals being in such dire straits?

Update (Ed): The vote has been posted and can be found here.

Update (AP): So much heart-ache.
“We’re disappointed that the Senate took the rare and politically convenient step of supporting eliminating some federal funding for a single organization, one that has been the target of an historical political assault stemming variously from the Bush White House, Fox News, and other conservative quarters,” said Bertha Lewis, CEO of ACORN, in a statement after the Senate vote. “Fortunately, ACORN derives most of its income from its members and other supporters, so the decision will have little impact on overall operations. Tonight’s vote will burden the families who benefited from ACORN’s important work to improve housing conditions in the United States.”
