Wow, birdieman, you came out with a vengeance!

Gees, a lot of people want every thing for free. And sometimes, people with a whole bunch of money ask the question, "is it free?" I guess that is how they got to be rich, by asking that question!!

Let me re-phrase some of the round-a-bout questions you have all been asking and then you can tell me who's looking for something for free.
1) We live in RM, why can't we eat at the club with the CC members? A) That's why it's called a membership!
2) Why do you have to be a member to use the driving range, why can't every one use it? A) Because the members pay for the up-keep and the balls!
3) Why doesn't the club let people play for free, maybe they'll like it so much they'll join? A) That's just a polite way of trying to get some free golf.
4) Why doesn't the club do more to attract my business and earn my money? A) You've been living her how long and haven't joined yet?
You'll never be able to please everybody in a community, I just don't understand how people who don't belong to the club are always complaining about the club. My neighbor has nicer cars than I do, should I complain about my neighbor because he won't give me his nice car for free? Maybe I should be happy for my neighbor and sometimes he'll take me for a ride!

Nope still don't see anyone asking for anything for free. Do you think people will not pay for lessons or a meal?

It's called marketing 101. We were trying to help the club with ideas to gain members. Offer a couple of PAID lessons and maybe some people will realize they like the game. Offer a time where someone can PAY for a meal and they may realize they enjoy the restaurant. No one is asking for anything for free. How many cars have you purchased that you did not take out for a test drive first?

All those things you just talked about you can do with your neighbor or your friend the member. Why do you need to be able to do them on your own to find out if you like them. You can go to the club and dine as a guest, you can play golf as a guest, you can play tennis as a guest, you can do just about everything I can as a guest. So to say if the club let people have a free pass to the facilities we pay for to maybe bring in more members is laughable. I can safely say that of all the people that live out here a very very small percentage has never used the facilities in one way or another. We all have friends and neighbors who are members and have been invited to dinner or play golf, so sell the "if they try it they might like" somewhere else.

Well it looks like the club disagrees with you. They are having an open house to try it before you buy it. If you don't like having this FREE event then you should probably let the club know. Personally I think it is smart marketing on the club's part.

I totally agree with having open house's. I do beleive you need to promote the club to attract new members as often as possible. What I don't agree with is people who live here who want to use the facilities on a regular basis with out becoming members. To me, once a month is a regular basis, for the record. I also hate the fact that people who live out here sneak onto the golf courses after hours and play golf even though they are not members. I see it all the time, I unlike a lot of other people have no problem confronting people who do so. I think it's disrespectfull to the members who pay for the privledge of enjoying the facilities. So if I sound cynicle when it comes to allowing people to use the facilities I don't mean too, it's just that I'm tired of watching people use something I pay a lot of money to use for free.

I can understand your frustration, but truly feel it is mis-directed. I have a good friend that plays almost everyday and I am sure he would be right next to you confronting people stealing a free game. I was simply offering suggestions to ppfi about gaining members. I have no idea if they are good ideas or if they would help, they were just some thoughts from an "outsider" .

At this point in my life I don't have time to play golf so I was just thinking if I did have the time what might help me make the decision to join. My in-laws are members so I have personally enjoyed many of the facilities as a guest.

Birdieman, how does the 1/2 off special on new memberships make you feel as a CC member? I know a lot of people who had to pay full price before there were any specials.

Just curious how you feel about this.
