What are the going rates for golf lessons? Any tips/recommendations for a beginner?

I emailed the club about lessons and I have yet to get a reply. Someone inquiring about lessons is a perfect time to discuss the benefits of joining the club. I guess they have no desire to gain new members.

Yes is the answer to that question. However since we offer 4 levels of membership and if you are just starting to get into golf, you may want to look at our "House" membership. For a $1,000 initiation fee and $63 per month you get full tennis benefits, driving range, lesson capability, golf once a month, and full access to our Club House which includes restaurants and the very popular 19th Hole, oh maybe I should add that as a member you can purchase items out of our Golf Shop at a 15% discount (everyday) off the regular purchase price and this includes the latest fashions in Nike (Tiger Wood's line), Tommy Bahama, Nick Price, and the hottest brand out there UnderArmour. Now that's a pretty fair deal....Thanks!
While I agree the "house" membership is a pretty good deal I think you should offer lessons to non-members. Some may not know they will love golf until they try. I would still charge for the lessons, but make a certain number of lesson available to non-members. If they enjoy it they just may join the club. Just my .02.

I agree with you Matthew, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. Since the days they went " PRIVATE " and started charging a membership fee to join they do not allow anyone, even residents, to play unless you join or are with a member and pay green fee's. When I was a member, after 25 yrs. we quit, I was on a several committee's and even reccommended that the club allow residents to dine at the club, showing ID with your address on it to show you are a resident, pay cash, so they would not have any expenses associated with billing, and perhaps that would interest some folks to join. I was told " NO WAY, WE ARE A PRIVATE COUNTRY CLUB". Knowing that the F & B Department at that time was barely a break-even deal, I thought that would be a good way to attract new members and make some money too. I always said that RMCC rather than being a Country Club is really a club in the country and because we have a residential community surrounding the courses which is unusual to many of the other PRIVATE CLUBS, I didn't think my idea was a bad one.
Mama, your idea is a good one. Private doesn't mean excluding everyone all the time. The club does have open houses which are available to all residents, but only a couple times a year.
I'd like to see one evening a month--maybe a Weds. night buffet or a family-type BBQ, etc.,--open to any RM resident. They do take credit cards, but maybe if they said only cash money, it would still bring out a few more potential members.
Thanks Nana....I thought it was a good way to get non-member residents acquainted with the club and could only see a benefit to both. They also said that if they let residents come for dinner it would impact the members and they would not like it. However, if you set up a list and only allow so many non-members for that evening I don't see how that could be a problem......Somehow I got the feeling that they just did not want to entertain my suggestions no matter how many solutions I came up with.
