Default American Flag retirement Memorial Day

The local Boy Scout troop 633, the Kiwanis club, and RMA maintenance again cooperate to have a somber and sanctioned flag retirement ceremony on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25.
The location is the Calero Lake Honor and Memorial Grove bench with the magnificent backdrop of Calero lake and the Sierra.
Start time is 7pm. Bring a chair.
We will again be honored to have the retired Army bagpiper, Chuck Jamison, playing during the ceremony.
Tattered American flags will be retired to the hot flames as soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for us are remembered.
Flags are being collected by Boy Scouts, Kiwanis members, at the RMA building and at Cosumnes Elementary School.

Default Re: American Flag retirement Memorial Day

Please come out and support the Troop and honor our military fallen. If you haven't been out there before, it is a moving ceremony, and our Scouts do a great job.

Here's an update from our Scoutmaster on how our Scouts did this past weekend:

Quote:
I am extremely proud of our Troop 633 scouts who participated in Camporee 2009. 340 scouts participated in Camporee at Rancho Seco this weekend. Jacob, Chris, Kyle, Greg, Steve, Luke, Scott, Jason K., Jason L., Cole and Linus did a great job working as teammates and competing in the events. We came in 2nd in two events, 3rd in two different events and 2nd in Dutch Oven cooking. At the end of the event I felt like we were "The Little Troop that Could". Our troop was one of the smallest that participated but we still walked away with 5 awards!!

Although there was not an award for best Campfire Song, Kyle, Greg & Jacob would have easily won with their rendition of "The Moose Song". They led the entire Camporee Saturday evening. They looked well-prepared and comfortable standing before the crowd. Great Job boys! The Saturday evening campfire ended with an Indian Hoop Dance. Yes, the Indian Hoop Dancer is a member of Troop 633: Justin Colyer, who holds the Order of The Arrow's highest rank of Vigil. We are very glad that Linus and Justin have become part of our troop.

And, though, not the flag retirement ceremony, here are our scouts laying a wreath at the Veteran's Cemetery in Dixon:
