Default New Rules

I am pretty much done with some of you that can’t seem to act like adults and carry on civil conversations. You know who you are. Baiting people by trying to setup threads to lure people into a confrontation, name calling, or attacking people and not ideas is getting old. This site started out and ran for a long time a pretty positive place. I have tried to put various controls in place to allow people the freedom to discuss issues without the need for moderations, but I think those days are gone. I guess I need to play the dictator role, which is sad really. From now on the site will follow the rules below. Hatethecommute, Mama Mia, Maximus, and hautemomma all have the ability to moderate the forums. I will be watching the forums and anytime I see something inappropriate your post will be edited or deleted. If any user becomes a problem I will ban them, temporarily or even permanently.

I can appreciate a spirited debate and even prefer them on many subjects, but for those that cannot behave like adults this might not be the site for you. I do not like any form of censorship nor do I like to moderate the forums based on subjective content, but this is overdue. As always I welcome any feedback on this or anything else on this site.

General Rules

The purpose of the forum is to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and information. Occasionally, there will be conflicts that arise when people voice opinions. Be courteous when disagreeing with others. It is possible to disagree without being insulting.

Emotional or heated discussions should be started in “The Ring”. Threads may also be moved to “The Ring” at any time. While “The Ring” discussions are more loosely moderated they still fall under these rules. Any discussions in the “Cloud 9” area will be strictly moderated. Users may be banned from the “Cloud 9” area if they cannot fallow these rules.

Personal attacks are prohibited.
Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts which are designed to personally berate or insult another. Text of this nature is not beneficial to the community spirit and will not be tolerated.

Trolling is prohibited.
Trolling is the word used to describe a post that is deliberately designed for the purpose of angering and insulting the members of the forum community. Posts of this nature are disruptive and do not convey a friendly attitude. These posts will be deleted.

No posting of personal information
Please respect the privacy of other Rancho Murieta residents and do not give out information such as real names, phone numbers, and addresses. Any forum member that posts personal information of another member will immediately and permanently banned.

No posting of private communications
Private communications between forum members is not to be made public on these forums or by any other venue. You are not permitted to publicize any private message (PM) received from any other member of the forum

Warnings and bans are not to be discussed on the forum.
Such matters shall remain private between the administrator or moderator and the user. Questions or comments concerning warnings and bans will be conveyed through e-mail or private messaging. Likewise, discussions regarding moderator actions are not permitted on the forum. If you have questions regarding a post or thread, please contact matthew.mcguire@gmail.com

Redundant threads will be deleted or merged together.

As a courtesy to others before beginning a new thread, please look to see if an active thread on that topic has already been established. If so, place your comments there instead. Multiple threads on the same subject clutter up the forum needlessly and many good ideas may be lost. Keep discussions about one topic to one thread only.

Impersonating another forum user, resident of Rancho Murieta, or employee working in the community is strictly prohibited.
You are expressly forbidden from impersonating anyone else, including those named above, on the forum, even in jest. This may be grounds for permanent loss of your forum account.

You may not post advertisements.
You may not post advertisements of any type in the forum. If you feel you have a product or service that will be a benefit to our readers send an email to matthew.mcguire@gmail.com with the details.

Post constructively.

Negative feedback can be very useful, provided that it is presented in a civil, factual manner. Tell us what you don't like and why and how you feel it could be improved. Posts that are insulting and rude may be deleted, no matter how valid the ideas behind them may be.

Misc
Members should post in a way which is consistent with "normal writing". That is users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or colored text, etc. Similarly users should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts. Please refrain from using CAPITALIZATIONS in the topic title or when participating in threads. Topics titles may be edited to help others locate the appropriate topic.
