Virus Threat - Customs Service

I just received a virus attempt. I of course didn't open it up but was surprised it got thru my RM.org filter and my other virus thing didn't catch it. You can read about it here:

We have received a parcel for you, sent from France on July 9. Please fill out the customs declaration attached to this message and send it to us by mail or fax. The address and the fax number are at the bottom of the declaration form.

UPS_Invoice email trojan variant claims to be from Customs Service Getting IT Right

Yes, my filter trapped three pieces of mail last night with an infected file with a filename saying something about UPS Tracking. With varying subject lines about who was sending it to me, so it may not be restricted to the U.S. Customs scam.

Everybody should make sure their virusware is updated. It should be doing it automatically, to pick up new "definitions" which spot new types of attacks, but when a new one starts slipping through like this it's a sign it may be a good time to open your virusware and tell it manually to update itself NOW.

I guess my AVG virus protection only installs updates once a night not every second of the day looking for new patches. So my husband just clicked on it and there was the patch waiting to be installed. I asked why this wasn't running all the time looking for updates and installing them but he said my system would run like crap (slow I assume). Of course his ultimate threat is always I'm going to take you off of WINDOWS! I guess he runs Linux and has no problems.

Just checked RM.orgs virus & spam catcher and there were 3 waiting there under the virus tab.

Me too Beth...I got one the other day and 2 today....I always delete anything I don't recognize or subscribe to.....we keep our virus scan updated constantly...I get a lot of junk emails daily and just zap them off....
