I almost hit the dl button this morning but I chickened out. I have so many tools with FF3 and I know Chrome is going to convert me and I will have to start all over. Any cool tools for Chrome yet? Is it really that much faster?

Not in the form of plug-ins like in Firefox. It does have some pretty cool features built in and it is much much faster than IE and FF2. FF3 gets closer, but Chrome still beats it. I only installed it at work today so I have not had a chance to really play with the features.

Have you tried IE8 yet? I heard it was out in beta. Have heard some pretty good preliminary reports about it.

I have not tried it. IE is generally too integrated into the OS to upgrade before I am ready to commit to it. I will probably load it on a test machine before too long.

Am I crazy to be concerned about Google expanding further its ability to database and exploit every damn click I make on the web? Has anybody actually analyzed the legalese of their User Agreement to verify whether it doesn't cook down to "Google owns your clicks, Resistance Is Futile"?

Matt:

I run AOL and have been since AOL v3.1 on an Ibem Aptiva.

I would like to try Chrome but have a few questions.

Will I spend 1/2 a day with forms, CC #'s, Dog's Name, etc?

If I don't like it am I stuck with it, can I really delete it or will it be running the background forever?

Should I open IE to download Chrome, close IE, reboot and open Chrome?

Can Chrome replace AOL, can I use Chrome to pen AOL just to check my famour EMail Address?

Thanks, now get back to work.

12 hours out of the box, and the browser's screamin' fast. The jury's out to see if I can get it to do all the tricks that FF3 does (with plug ins)... but so far so good. Me likey.

Okay. Big problem- the spell check feature is buggy. It finds misspelled words (underlines them like FF does) but when I right click, nothing.. nada. Grrrrrr. Anyone have a solution?

I'm going to have to go back to FF3 for any blogging/posting until they get the spell check figured out, but honestly I'll stick with Chrome to browse- its a little speed racer.

Spelling works fine for me. I have Chrome loaded on an XP machine. Are you using XP or Vista?
