Black Friday - Do you go shopping?

So who goes shopping the day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday)? We went one year and got some pretty good deals, but the crowds are just crazy. Do you go out on Black Friday?

Personally I've gone shopping on Black Friday a couple of times and have found some amazing deals, but the crowds are a bit much. I haven't decided if I'm going this year or not. My husband has a couple of places he wants to hit because they have some good deals on tools, not really up my alley, but we'll see. I received this link today, it might be good for those that are venturing out this Friday.

I too have become almost exclusively an online shopper, except for those last few panic days when you realize you still have holes in the list and it's too late for mail order....

No way am I going out with all the crowds and crazyness....I like to shop when there is hardly anyone there....we have started doing gift cards for the grandkids since they are older and we don't really know what to get them anymore. I like getting them too....that way I can buy what I want...

The Downtown Plaza, for what's there, is a great little Xmas shopping secret. Nobody comes down here on weekends, so it's not nearly as crazy as the big malls.

Haven't done "Black Friday" for umpteen years. Now that I am semi-retired, I begin shopping right after Christmas. Today I spent several hours inh Folsom; the lines at Ross' were unbelieveable! They opened additional checkstands, which helped. Someone her is less than happy that I forgot to get gas at Costco. . .woops!

I have a question.....(gosh I'm so curious today!!) Why do they call it "Black Friday" ?? Shouldn't it be called "Green Friday" since the stores take in "lots" of money from all the shoppers?? And how/who named it that?? Anybody have an answer??
