Wow, thanks for the heads up. I've misused "criteria/criterion" my entire life

This reminds me of my 2nd grade spelling bee challenge. I was in my 6th round with only 6 more competitors to go and my word was "Colonel."

I thought, "wow, this is easy" and immediately spelled out "Kernel." I argued that I knew the spelling of the other word and even used my father, who is (at the time) a Colonel in the army, as an example, but competition is tough.

I don't think I'll ever get affect & effect right. It wasn't listed on the link you had but when I read thru it I did find where it was finally referred to but I'm still confused and will continue to get it wrong

There was one clue written and now I'm not sure if I remember it correctly...if you can use the word "the" infront of of the word then the word is "effect".
