so, who outed Harry about being in Afghanistan? In my mind, not a very responsible editorial choice. Certainly put his life and those with him at greater risk. Is the rumor correct that Drudge spilled the beans?

I heard Drudge picked it up from an Australian paper. Pretty risky, I agree.

Apparently it was widely known in the press and the request to keep it under wraps was honored by all but scumsucker Drudge, who claimed a "scoop" of something everybody apparently knew but had the discretion not to print.

this is consistent with the outing of Valerie Plane Wilson. Just because you know something, doesn't mean that you print it. Having Freedom of the Press doesn't automatically mean that you can say what ever you want especially when what you say might cause that person's life to be in danger because of it. There is a responsibility that comes with that right. I believe that line was crossed with Valerie, and now with Harry.

Freedom of the press and freedom of speech are the right to speak without government interference. They are not the right to be free of the social consequences. The Bill of Rights limits government, not free citizens.

But I differ, Feisty, in one fine point. It does protect his right to print it. Just as it protects my right to write my hopes about his just desserts.
There's an exception for speech creating an extreme imminent danger (fire in a crowded theater, inciting a riot) but it's extremely narrowly applied and this would probably be a stretch.
