No doubt, Farm Subsidies have, more than likely, outlived their intended purposes.

I was trying to highlight the fact that Farm Subsidies have been written by the US Congress whereas UAW Members getting paid not to work, especially now that the UAW owns 55% of Chrysler, the Company that is paying them not to work, seems, at the very least, weird.

Especially if it shakes out that The US Government is Partners with the UAW in Chrysler Ownership the results could be that The US Government is paying UAW Members not to work at the Company they own.

Nor do farmers have the inherent conflict of interest the UAW has by owning most of Chrysler. The UAW can now negotiate with itself, get a better deal and then go to the other American car companies and demand a similar deal. That is the acceptaed practice now. (I forget what it is called.)

I have made sure that all of my investments will not have any money in Chrysler in the future. Unions can't run themselves without compulsorily taking money out of people's pockets. How are they going to run an American car company?

Yogi, did you read your own article? The problem with the money spent isn't with the so called "farmers." It's with the federal government. It is easy to spend other people's money. Wouldn't you agree?

Great, Max. United Airlines, the "employee owned airline" for the last 10+ years is a classic model of how this does not work. Huge infighting, while the corporate Board profits at their expense.
Obama bailing out the unions who voted for him at the expense of the business itself will spell similar doom.

Yog, got some Minnesota farm land under till. Green companies subsidized by fed/Gore drama want me to stop plowing, and sell "wind rights/easements" to the rich agrarian soil to put up their propellers, with no farming activity to proceed. Very lucrative; what to do?
