Default Wood Burning Restrictions Go Into Effect

Wood burning restrictions went into affect yesterday.

Wood Burning Restrictions Go Into Effect | News | FOX40 KTXL

How many people have fires? I know we do. Will you check a website or make sure to watch the news before you light a fire? I wonder how many inspectors will be driving around RM looking for smoke.

Here is where you can find out the restrictions for the present day and the following day.

I for one will not be a snitch! It reminds me too much of the Nazi's. I wondered that myself Matt since the police certainly don't want to come out here. We have a Pellet stove, and weren't happy at all when they included those with wood fireplaces since Pellet stoves burn so cleanly. In fact, we have gone outside when it is blazing and you can't tell that we are using it. That was the reason we switched to a Pellet stove, so that we could use it even if wood fireplaces weren't permitted to. So, I say to the county for making that really dumb decision. Since I've been to a few meetings at the county, I'm not very impressed with any of them except Don Nitolli. (I don't know the spelling for his name Jack, sorry!)

And be sure you don't throw any batteries, worn out calculators or musical Greeting Cards into the trash or recycle bin.
You gotta drive your car across the da*# County to dispose of them:

The RMA Building has a container in the foyer in which you can toss batteries. I noticed that the Preston Castle committee had an e-waste collection Saturday and that would have been an easy drive. For us, it'll be off to Goodwill to "donate" my more-than-gently used old Gateway, printer, monitor, etc. Don't know yet if CSD will do a repeat of last year's waste collection event.

What the hell do the Nazi's have to do with burning wood in your fireplace. And you wonder why people take pot shots at you. It's all your own doing. Totally uncalled for reference that doesn't even make sense.

that was my reference to being a snitch DB. I'm sure they are counting on neighbors to call and report people who are burning their wood when they shouldn't. I'm sure there aren't enough Inspectors to do this, so the public will be help them with this.

I agree this is going to count on people turning their neighbors in thus it will fail. I dont intend on keeping up with whether its a burn day or not. If Im cold and want a fire then I will duraflame it or maybe more. What bothers me probably far more is the deluge systems I see on each day during the winter. I havent watered my yard since late October but still see daily watering that rival a southern T storm.

I think the promise of enforcement is largely a bluff. They'll get what they need through voluntary compliance. What they needed most was to DO something to get the feds off their necks because the region's so far out of compliance on air quality standards.
