Default Where do you get your Christmas tree?

. . . . and when? Are we too early? We went to Sloughhouse (Davis Ranch) and their inventory of Nobles stinks. Looking for some suggestions on where to get a nice tree that will last.

. . . . and while we are on the subject, what is the going rate for a Christmas tree this year? Maybe I am a humbug, but $110 for a 7-8ft tree sounds crazy!

Davis Ranch, cut it today (Sunday), $35, thought the selection was fine, but I don't know a Noble from a Navel.

Hate to say but you can't beat the Pre-Lit Xmas Tree at Costco. We've used the same one for the last 3 Christmas' and it's great!....maybe $150?

I'm with Beth-- Costco's prelit 9 1/2 foot tree. It’s great. It took me two years to finally get my husband to (grudgingly) buy into the fake tree idea, but with my two little "helpers" moving water out from under the tree I was at the end of my rope with water damaged floors.

For a little more money, Balsam Hill - Premium Artificial Christmas Trees, Wreaths, and Garlands has amazing trees.... here is a link to their Noble Fir Balsam Hill - BH Noble Fir by Napa Christmas. You can order their sample branches to know what you're buying. They are as realistic as you can get, but they START at $779.

Home Depot has had reasonable prices on Fir type trees (I have an irrational bias against Nobles, my childhood imprinting tells me they're not "real" Xmas trees but bushes).

the last couple of years I've been so disorganized that we didn't get a tree up until about a week before Christmas, by which time HD was clearancing their remaining trees for something silly like 10-20 bucks.

I just asked my husband about his favorite tree we've had-- we bought a tree at a lot in South Sac one year (we were supporting a friends Boy Scout Troop). $85 for an 8' Noble Fir, but it was absolutely gorgeous. The neighborhood was a liiiiiiiittle iffy (Florin Road, between 24th Street & Freeport), but the tree was really, really amazing. You might want to leave your kids at home though. My husband got approached by a trans-gender prostitute (oh, what fun christmas memories) ha ha ha. But seriously... we'll tell that story for years. It was pretty funny.

Besides Capital Nursery is there a local place for live Christmas trees? We bought ours 3 years ago and used it for two years before planting it in the back yard this year. We did this after two years in a row of trees freshly cut from Davis Ranch that became fire hazards well before Christmas eve.
