Default Wasting OUR money on the cable system

Did you see the board once again approved wasting OUR money on the worthless cable system?

http://www.ranchomurieta.com/node/1587

This is my money and your money and the board continues to spend it on a cable system that the community does not want. Almost everyone I spoke with are not happy with the new premium channels. Most people only have RMA cable service becasue they are forced to pay for it. Why is the board acting like our opinions do not matter? Someone needs to tell them they are not dictators. We are spending $250,000 for what? The RMA is a HOA not a private business and they need to stop thinking they can compete with those businesses.

and then I saw this:

Quote:
It was noted at the board meeting that former RMA cable manager Doug Mack has returned to the RMA in a consulting capacity.
What is that all about? Nothing against Mr. Mack, but he has no idea how to run a technology business and we are paying him to consult??

Its probably because they have NO ONE there. The 2 guys that used to come and service the homes are gone. The so-called last cable manager, Jarvis, is GONE. Guess that leaves them with no alternative but to bring someone in to take care of the system until they can hire someone else....just my guess??

If we could get Julie Sams back on the comm commitee I think we could have some leadership that would make a difference.

This whole cable mess is a joke! I will NEVER purchase their services. The cable system only offers horrible quality at a high premium. We really need to get together and try to change things. I have listened to a vast majority of people on the forum and in our community complain and yet we continue to let them push us into this hole that keeps getting deeper.

I believe that these efforts will ultimately fail. Not because they won't be able to make it work, but because RMA does not have, and will never have, the resources and expertise to run a competitive cable and broadband company. As John Weatherford has pointed out many times, it is just a matter of getting the right technology to provide a picture. It is all that customer service stuff that they will not be able to provide.

As soon as they have the technology in place, and that should be soon, RMA should make paying for the cable system optional. If they are providing a service that our residents want, then enough will stay signed up and the system will be successful. If the system cannot survive on its own merits it should be scrapped. I believe that by continuing to pour money into the cable system and forcing the residents to pay for an inferior product, we are keeping away companies who may want to come in here and provide service, (AT&T, Comcast) because they know many people are reluctant to pay twice.

Just as RMA shouldn't be running a gas station or grocery store, neither should they run a cable TV company. Leave it to the people who have the expertise in these areas.

It has always crossed my mind, why issues of this magnitude are never voted on by the RM residents. Now I know it can be said we voted these people in to represent us; sadly there is little representation going on except for themselves!

There are 2 seats open in November so I think we need to ask some tough questions.
