To the best of my knowledge, in a word, "no." The event is held inside the gates and without an invitation by a resident, security will turn you away at the gate.

I have always wondered why there are signs, big and small, professional and home made, plastered all over Jackson Highway & Murieta Parkway.
They seem to encroach on the Public Right-of-Way as well as somebody's Private Property.
If the Market for Summerfest, Beach Party, etc, all lives behind The Gates why not put all the signage behind The Gates?
I gotta tell ya, from an "outsiders" view, the Corner of Jackson Highway and Murieta Parkway does not make a real good first impression.

Hi Jackson and thanks for posting.

Ranch HQ makes a good point. This came up last Summerfest too. We (inside the gates) haven't hammered out all the kinks in our advertising for events. I think, it's something RM has been working on for awhile. The Summerfest committee and most others are all community volunteers so the transfer of information about what works and what doesn't isn't always seamless.

On behalf of your appreciative RM neighbors I apologize for false advertising and possible bad impression. As a former Fiddletowner I can say, we LOVE our Amador neighbors

I have to agree with you RHQ.....doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to me to advertise outside the gates and give the public the impression that they can come into the community and attend. The CEO of Summerfest is on the RMA board. Perhaps someone should ask him why they do that.....

I certainly mean no ill towards Summerfest, it just seems to me with 100% of your "Business" behind gates I would concentrate my advertisement behind the same gates.
In another world, a rather large Corporate World, I spent a short stint with a large Firm (HLT) that branded themselves very well, at the time. Although I can take no credit for their sucess I was taught a few things that to this day make me look at the world in a way that makes my Wife just shake her pretty red head.

A possible reason for signs OUTSIDE the gate is that the ARC requires that you submit a request to have banners posted INSIDE the gates. Those banners must comply with sizing standards. The request for posting the signs must be done a certain number of weeks out so it can get on the ARC's agenda, then a letter goes out letting you know if you're good to go or not.

As a co-founder/current board member of the soccer club, getting the banners approved by ARC almost always slips my mind 'til the last minute and I get my request and banners in and hope I got it done in time (this year, I did it by the skin on my teeth). The ARC also requires that we have new banners made cuz they don't comply with their sizing (ours are 2x3, and they want 2x6). We're a non-profit, and banners aren't cheap. Everything else complies with their check list. I fear that sooner or later we'll be forced to put out money unnecessarily (or maybe we'll post ours outside the gates too...but that is a rant for another thread!)

There are rules about posting along Jackson Hwy, and it is entirely possible that event/organization volunteers will get a letter, including a picture, from CalTrans. There are city/county/state sign ordinances and many that you see all around our region have been posted when/where they ought not to be.

Residents have complained long and loud, and I suspect some still do, about the banners that are INSIDE the gate (thus the policy regarding sizing and length of time that the signs can be posted).

I know that during my 10 years with the Community Club, we encountered many issues regarding our event signs. We always had them made professionaly and according to the RMA standards. One year we posted some signs on Jackson and Sunrise for the Trash n Treasure and Caltrans took them, called us up and we were lucky to get them back. We never did that again!!!! It really does look tacky when there are tons of signs outside the gates...but then I guess many folks say it looks equally as tacky inside as well......

By and large, innumerable "outsiders" are called in; as a matter of fact, the carny workers are allowed to sleep o'nite up at Stonehouse. The real problem with Summerfest (reference the "new" admission charge last year which was never advertised) is purely lack of advance communication with even the local residents.

anyone know what the entrance fee will be this year? I for one think it's robbery to charge for families that just want to tour around and watch the kiddos have their fun.
