Default Squeeze Inn Lawsuit

Have you ever eaten at the Squeeze Inn? It's a tiny burger dive built in the 30's and it has some of the best cheeseburgers anywhere.

A disable woman by the name of Kimberly Block filed a civil suit in Federal Court because her wheelchair does not fit inside the restaurant. The owner says he can’t afford the renovations Kimberly Block demands. He may need to close the restaurant.

Kimberly Block claims she suffered “embarrassment and humiliation” and that her civil rights were violated because of inadequate access inside the restaurant. Funny thing is this is her third lawsuit this year.

Her lawyer, Jason Singleton has shut down restaurants with these ADA lawsuits before. The Sac Bee listed him in a Feb '07 story that identified the top ADA case filers in the state. He filed 26 ADA cases in 2005 alone.

Quote:
She told FOX40, "I think anyone should be able to go into a restaurant and enjoy their food."
Woman Sues Squeeze Inn Over Disability Violations - Hamburger Joint, Squeeze Inn, Americans with Disabilities Act - KTXL

There is a patio around back where they will come out to take your order. That stinks that she cannot go inside, but heck I have trouble getting inside during lunch.

To sue for money is pathetic. To continue to sue businesses like she has graduates her to a parasite.

I've never been there, but the Lord of the Manor and the Young Master have, and they think it's the bomb.

This woman and her lawyer OUGHT to be embarrassed and humilitated, but not because she can't access thru the front door! Had she starved to death, maybe her heirs would have a case, but that didn't happen.

Similar small-time restaurant in Stockton being sued (sorry don't recall the details, but it was in the news about 6 weeks ago).

While I have a tremendous amount of empathy for those less able-bodied than I, I can say that my experience from gimping around after foot surgery is that people WANT to help you! These mom-and-pop shops, that are few and far between, need to be supported, not forced to close over unreasonable complaints.

I'm feeling a trip to the Squeeze Inn is in my future (better do it sooner than later...just in case... )

Best burgers in town by far. Nobody, including able-bodied persons can comfortably fit in the building- hence the name - Squeeze Inn.

These lawsuits are absolute travesties. Remember the one at Basketball Town a few years ago? Unfortunately, the ADA laws are so broadly written that they have created this cottage industry.

All of a sudden good press is like a huge "sue me" sticker on your back. I'll bet most people needing handicapped accommodations detest this behavior. The backlash has to be a concern. Losers. I really can't stand this. All those good jobs and good employers sacrificed.

Hmm. I'm hungry and have another hour to kill before picking up Luke, Jr. from football practice.

It's a second income for that disabled women. She just wasn't smart enough to target those who could afford to comply with ADA and settle damages.

Thanks lady (and lawyer), you are making the world a better place. Be proud of yourself!
