Yes, I read that this morning...I'm not supprised...many skate parks all over the area have been closed for much the same reason....I have said all along that if we build one here, we will have the same problems and concerns....it's not the good kids but the bad apples that will ruin it for all. It will end up costing us tons of dollars and probably will end up closed after spending a fortune to build....This seems to be a universal problem. It's really to bad, but unfortunatly real life....

Lets get ahead of the problem before it happens. Security must be guaranteed for this to work. If not then we also need a follow on plan as to what we will do with the park should it need to close as others have.

Seems to me that whatever authority our security officers ultimately are decided are legal will have a direct impact on how well a skate park could be managed. Unless of course some other alternative supervision of the facilities is found.

I'm not sure I understand your reply. I'm not implying cityhood.

I just wanted to comment that our security would need tools to deal with some of the issues that would arise at the skate park. It's not currently clear if they will have those tools.

Just a comment.

That is not going to solve the problem either. Elk Grove, Folsom, and many other "cities" have had the same occurances....skate parks are unfortunatly what is called "an attractive nusance".....Someone, either RMA or whoever, will have to carry a ton of insurance on the park. Please don't say no one would sue if the kid got hurt because that has already been proven untrue.....kids will not wear the proper equipment, as evidenced in the picture on RM.com of the three boys riding their bikes out back. None had the helmet they were supposed to be wearing...and I think that is a law. Now how would you get the skateboarders to wear the equipment?? Who will patrol the park? How long would it be open? Will there be fencing? What happens when some kids get in after hours? Do we call Security....can they do anything or do we have to call the Sheriff Department? Will they come out after they get through laughing all over themselves Lots of questions to be answered.

We have to face the music at some point. We cannot continue to misgovern ourselves in perpetuity.
