My understanding is there will be a meeting in November with the community and the EGUSD to discuss the status of a new school.

Karen just posted a comment to her site saying she can't get any info on when another meeting might be.

I don't have a good feeling about this. I fear we're just going to get hosed again.

I have to think that if I were on the school board and I had to endure the abuse (warrented or not) from all the people who live out here who are constantly raking the school board over the coals (publicly). I would not do a whole lot to help the community out. The district takes a constant pounding year after year for not stepping up with a new school (which has been promised for years) but how long can a board take the abuse before they just flat out turn a blind eye. My daddy always said "you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar". We should be trying to work hand in hand instead of casting stones from the other side of the road. Just a thought.

Did you read what Dick Cox had to say about how the Elk Grove School District has treated us out here. He was quoted on the rm.com during last nights candidates night. I love it...

Very interesting how the two candidates answered the same questions. Cooper must love the status quo on every issue. He just doesn't get it ! !

I do have some inside information, but I promised my contact I would not share. My contact continues to use the word "hopeful" so I don't believe any plans have been written in stone. They are "hopeful" they will have concrete information by November.

I read the comments by RMA Board candidate Dick Cox and I was appalled. What kind of example does he set for our youth and the community when he talks about driving a Sherman tank to a school board meeting and threatening to blow everyone up if he doesn't get his way on a new school? Cox should issue an immediate apology and remove himself as a candidate for this Board. It is hard enough negotiating with all the various interests regarding the new school but to put threats of physical violence out there (even if he thought it was some kind of sick joke) is absolutely unacceptable. How can you vote for anyone as a Board member for RMA or any other Board who behaves like this?

That's the exact kind of abuse I was talking about. A little tact goes a long way. We live in a society where some people think if you throw a big enough tantrum you will get your way. What kind of message does that send to the youth in our community. If people would put as much energy into finding a solution to building a new school as they do in trying to stop development maybe we'd have a new school by now.

I think Cox is just frustrated in the district. I know I am. The district has no problem getting schools built other places, but RM looks to be on the bottom of their priority list.

Supply and Demand. I wonder if we were to draw on the organic teaching/management talent that we have here at the Ranch that we could start a private school with high standards. CRES being the gold medal winner that it is would be difficult to compete with but I think there is room to start the project.
