RMA Board of Directors

The Rancho Murieta Association is still looking for people to run for the Board. I estimate we have about 3,000 people in our community who are eligible to serve on the Board. It shouldn't be this difficult to find 4 or 5 people to run. Your community needs you to step up and make a difference. Remember, each successful candidate gets a free Hawaiian shirt to wear to the meetings.

How's it been for you Chesbro?

What's the time commitment been like?

I have found the role of Director to be enjoyable and challenging at the same time. The time commitment is not overwhelming at all and amounts to only a few hours a week. My experience as MTI President taught me that that even problems that may appear to have simple solutions usually have complexities that were not anticipated. It is no different at the RMA Board.

We have a group of directors who all bring their diverse experience to the decision making process. The one thing we have in common is that we have to consider what is best for all of Rancho Murieta when we make a decision and not what is best for the individual.

I may be a little strange in that I find it an honor rather than a chore to represent our community. I would strongly recommend the job to anyone.

Jim thanks for following up on finding possible board members. For those of you that might be considering running don't let the time committment scare you away. As a director and committee chair it shouldn't take more than 4-5 hours a week at maximum with the exception of monthly board meetings. The time for board meeting usually is affected by how badly the president runs the meeting. (I'm finding out it isn't as easy as I thought) Like Jim I feel it is an honor to give back to our community and the diversity of opinions is healthy. There are times in most peoples lives they think they have the answers, however, what you find out very quickly is you don't even know what all the questions are. So if you have an inkling go for it and give your fellow members a chance to make a choice.
