Thank you for comments. My bro in law and family left Rancho for Serrano 2 years ago, they have had no problems. Serrano has non-manned gates for most..but where my bro in law lives is where the Country Club manned gate is. It would be very interesting to see what their statistics are...if they keep any! As most of you know RMA's ex-manager has worked there almost since he left here, would he tell !? Also those neighborhoods SEEM more clearly defined, with not as much wooded common area running through them. The problem I have is facing this lake and areas around it which are easily accessed and easy to hide in and/or run away. I hear cars and golf carts coming down between Chesbro and Calero at night...very hard to catch! I'm not complaining, I love this lake, but I do feel more vunerable. On the good side I hear EVERYTHING out here due to sound traveling accros the lake...lake walkers I know all of your secrets!!!!

Earlier today, I made an interesting discovery... The Sac Bee's Crime Mapper doesn't apparently do El Dorado Hills stuff very well. I went to the El Dorado SO's website and searched for crimes in El Dorado Hills (which Serrano is in) and the time period between June 17 and June 30 of this year, I was able to "see" 6 events that are crimes that happened inside Serrano itself. These crimes include L&L conduct with a child under 14, drug use, battery, and so on.

I guess that the Crime Mapper is hiding Serrano stuff? Consipracy?

I was thinking about that last night...I think Serrano is developer owned and run, they control the PR. I remember a day when things in RM were not reported and kept quiet so that people would buy homes here. Anybody have any facts or memory of this!?

As far as I am aware there is no independent news source for Serrano. The closest they have is the El Dorado Hills Telegraph and they cover all of El Dorado Hills. The same new agency runs papers for Auburn, Colfax, Folsom, Granite Bay, Lincoln, Loomis, Rocklin, and Roseville. I doubt they can be as focused as Karen can be on just RM.

I think all that will lend a good, family friendly community oriented vibe.
My own personal preference would be to start the meeting after I get my kids in bed (7:30 ish). Even with child care at the meeting, my entaurage might be a little tough at that time of night. But I'll figure it out, no matter what time it ends up being- this is great.

My hubby and I saw these neat motion lights at Costco on Sunrise. When the light is triggered, there is a camera that is triggered as well. It was $99. They aren't at the one in Folsom however, cause we checked today!

It isn't necesssary true that there are no problems in Serrano. I've heard different. Kids aren't any different some where else, and neither are parents.

That's an intriguing idea. Self defense is likely to be more effective than relying on ANY form of patrol, in ANY uniform.

I like this one too. For $700.00 we could prototype a problem area or two and see how effective the cameras are and how Johnny looks at 2 am.

Hot off the confirmation press:

The Rancho Murieta Rotary Club will be hosting a Sheriff Department's presentation on Neighborhood Watch. We have reserved the RMA building (thank you RMA) for Sept. 30, 2008. The meeting will begin at 7:00. There will more details to follow.
If needed we will look into a larger venue and we will be working on matters such as child care.
