I just posted this under the "Vandals strike. . . " thread

The Rotary Club of RM has been in touch with Neighborhood Watch/Sheriff department. We are working on a date and details. Hopefully we can get this meeting together before they steal the building!
As soon as I have anything solid I will post it.

Yeah! I'd like to help with marketing and have a childcare room. Can't wait to get going.

Me too. Count me in to participate (patrols) and any advertising you need.

I need a quieter (electric) cart for stealth patrol. Think I can get a Homeland Security grant?

Regarding Neighborhood watch meeting, I need some opinions ( I hope I came to the right place) The Rotary Club has been in touch with Neighborhood watch people and the NW head person is out on vacation, however here is what I have. We can have a meeting Tuesday September 30. Should I push for sooner? We chose that date because it is a regular Rotary night and RMA building was available. Should I take any night sooner? How many people would you guess will attend? Should I approach the club to use the big room for this? Thanks for the help

Very impressed and thankful that Rotary is driving this, however, I would like to ask GB where is RMA on this? RMA is a collective agency chartered to represent all homeowners with regards to arch and non-arch issues and compliance. I would rather RMA be on board and driving this then sitting back waiting to put some roadblocks up. Speaking from past experience here. GB, you asked what people want with regards to security. Are you listening and ready to act? $30,000 would be a nice chunk of change to help support a 'known' (Neighborhood Watch) deterrent to crime rather than an 'unproven' high tech camera system which will only monitor a very few hotspots.

RMA meets tomorrow night. Whilebthey can't take any action on a non-agendized item, certainly a conversation can be started with the Board by coming up during public comment and telling the BOD what is coming together, asking for the Board's support, offering to coordinate with RMA, etc. An early opportunity to get the word out to those who don't read blogs that a NW effort is spooling up.

I don't think the problem is so urgent that Sept. 30 is "too late." It's a chronic nuisance, not an emergency, and having six weeks (and two RMA meeting cycles) to generate information and public interest may be helpful.

A bit of Rotary background, Rotary is a non political group. With that in mind Rotary would/will be glad to host this community event. Rotary will not be taking any agenda/side on this issue. With that said I would be glad to try to coordinate with RMA or any other involved group(s) for the betterment of the community.
