the ground was laid for this effort when the pipe was laid for the electrical while the turf was put in over 3 years ago.

Having lights out there is GREAT (IMO...and yes, I live pretty close by). I can see some glare from the existing lights at night.

However, the monitoring of when they are on (and ensuring they are off when not used) is going to be the key here.

We need to ask the membership how they want to handle the long term costs and the recurring electricity costs. Putting in the system seems prudent and hopefully will necessitate a gate near there to take care of traffic.

I know. It also has an effect on those nearer the park as well. My concerns are of who bears the electricity and O and M costs.

Since there are those who don't want to pay for the cable if they use Dish instead, so I'd suggest that those who use the field for sporting activities should pay for the lights and the electricity to run them. Oh wait, is this an asset of the corporation?
DB, there certainly is the issue of all those bright lights disturbing the people who live near the park, and lets not forget all of the noise besides. I have another question to ask about the lights as well. How long can the games go on once the lights are installed? I don't live near the park, but if I did, I would want the parks committee to hear some of the thoughts of the people who will be impacted by this decision.

If it was all about me I would be against it. But the only factors I'm considering are cost and light pollution. The idea of having games at night that we can all go to as a family/community is pretty cool.

First and foremost I believe we are a residential community. To me this means quiet enjoymentof the area. This means houses , trees, and yes, parks. Heck I have coached different sports for many years and I have seen a lot of kids enjoy those fields. However I also have many neighbors who live around those fields. I bet they don't need cars, kids and lights after dark.

What's the big rush? I don't understand why this decision is being pushed through so aggressively. One day the parks committee is talking about a community park for the children of the south and the next day they have dumped that idea and decided to spend $100,000 of our money to put in lights over in the north. I vote no.

Something is really fishy here. Mike Martel says, we have to do it now. He says he will find the rest of the money. Where from? Summerfest? Total $250,000 ! Is this the same Mike Martel who let the bulldozers in the back gate without permission?

Hey, my family won't use a lighted field, why do we have to pay for it. My friends over there don't want the light pollution and no one has even asked them if it matters. What is it going to cost you and me to pay for the SMUD bill?

Tell the RMA board to stop and take a look and let the members decide. Don't be pushed into this without checking out everything.
