Default The latest RMA BOD Meeting 8/19/08

I caught the televised portion of the meeting last night. Did I get it straight that Maintenance was going to get ATV's for transportation within the community? Also the new board member was just there with no intro and no vote. Anyone have an idea of what the vote was? Wilbur you were there at least at the 10 PM segment.

The vote wasn't done in public, as I recall. I vaguely recall that they may have had a special meeting to do that awhile back? (??) They never publicize the vote on appointments, I think they even do it on blind ballot. I think the rationale is so that the newcomer won't come in with a mindset that W,X,Y and Z were "for" them and A,B and C were "against" them. Easier for them to ease into place and become part of the unit without such baggage. Debatable, but longstanding practice. She was introduced and sworn early in the meeting.

Yes, they're getting some ATVs to use in lieu of trucks when they don't have a bunch of stuff to haul. I think some old trucks were up for replacement and they did this in lieu of replacing the trucks, in which case both the vehicle is cheaper and there's substantial fuel savings to be had. They already have one or two. RMA regards itself exempt from the vehicle restrictions in the CC&Rs which the rest of us live under, if that's what you're thinking.

I think it's a great idea !!!

They allready have a green John-deer (Gator?) that looks like the Toro rigs used by the RMCC. I'll bet they're cheeper to feed than a F-150

Yea, but they ride like a GoKart (No Suspension).

Coulda got an Electric Truck from China for what you pay for a Gator, and they have a 2 man Cab.

Well, they could also look into these mini trucks... they're quite popular on college campuses:

Or those little flatbed GEMs. But I think the offroad superiority of the ATVs is probably of use to them in some of their work.

Some of them do come in a 4x4 configuration... but for some of the way out in the back area and common area stuff that maintenance does, ATV's are probably the best way to go. Besides, as long as they have some trucks around...
