Default Last night

Last night, like most nights, I went for a long walk around our community. Last nights, like most nights, I fell in love with Rancho Murieta all over again. As I walked up streets and around circles, down parkways and through lanes dusk came and went and street lights flickered on. As I walked, I encountered others out enjoying the night and reveled in the sounds of children laughing and neighbors chatting. I said hello to the doe and her two fawns that frequent Pera, and the hen and her chicks who seem to call Trinidad their home. I took in the deep smokey aroma of the barbeque in progress on Puerto, and the soft country music drifting down Rio Circle. Perhaps it was because I left the dog at home and my other half was out of town on business, that I was able to so truly appreciate the special nature of the place I call home. In any case, I wanted to post a thank you to all of you that make up Rancho Murieta and make it the special place that it is. Thank you- all of you. I do not know most of you, other than a quiet wave as we pass on the street, but thank you- for being you. Thank you- all of you- for helping to create the place I call home. I am truly blessed to live here, and to call you my neighbors.

Yes, thank you. I think my blood pressure just went down ten whatever-they-ares. It's good to be reminded just how special a place, just how many positives there are.

sad that when I read the header, I immediately thought "okay, which JA did what this time?"

the I read the "peace", and also felt a little bit of serenity...which if we just stopped (and stopped thinking), we'd have on a nightly basis.

I am glad to see so many of you feel the way I do about RM. Sometimes it is easy for me to get wrapped up in the hiccups and complications of my day to day life that I forget how much I have been blessed with. Often walking through our neighborhood is all I need to do to get back to reality and realize that things really aren't that bad. After all, how can they be when I live where I do, with wonderful people, wildlife, and so much more right at my doorstep.

I enjoy heading out to Stonehouse when the fields are full of our kids playing their particular sport. Nothing like six year old girls giggling on the soccer field.

Ok, I am little biased.

I noticed a delightful thing happened when I finally broke down and got a golf cart 5 yrs or so ago. Instead of driving through the neighborhoods closed up in a car I was putting along at bicycle speeds (it's an antique) and looking around a lot more and experiencing a lot more of what was around me, really enjoying the environment. I found I actually enjoyed just going out for a twilight putt around the neighborhood or out to the back country, not because it was fun to drive a golf cart (that wore off quickly) but because of that experience of seeing and soaking up the peace and beauty of the place.

Now I just need a quieter cart so I'm not the one disturbing all that peace and beauty.

It is amazing how much you can see when you stop and look. I have found that the days that I get out and take advantage of our streets, parks, and fields are my best days. I remember moving to RM as a teen and going on my first twighkight walk. Just me and my dog. I was swept away. Now as an adult, after going away for school, or work, or love... I am back in RM. From that first walk, I knew that this was the kind of place I one day would want to settle and build my life. I'm just grateful I have been able to. As time passes, I'm sure I will continue to find new things to love about RM. Like an old friend or old love, as time passes I only find new and deeper ways to connect with this great place.

Congratulations Birdie...it took you 8 posts to kill the serenity...I expected you to chime in earlier, so I'm glad it lasted as long as it did.

thanks again, truly, Bkwrm!
