81% Disagree With New Government Rationed Mammogram Rules

Jim Hoft

US women with breast cancer currently have a higher survival rate than in socialized Europe.

A major reason for this is because the cancer is diagnosed earlier.

Researchers discovered that it was because of breast cancer screenings that women with breast cancer have a 14 percent higher survival rate in the United States than in Europe. Breast cancer mortality is 52 percent higher in Germany than in the United States, and 88 percent higher in the United Kingdom. Breast cancer mortality is also 9 percent higher in Canada than in the US. Less than 25 percent of U.S. women die from breast cancer. In Britain, it’s 46 percent; France, 35 percent; Germany, 31 percent; Canada, 28 percent; Australia, 28 percent, and New Zealand, 46 percent.

Maybe that’s why just 8% of Americans agree with the government’s new rationed mammogram rules.

Rasmussen reported:
A federal medical panel’s recommendation that women can now wait until age 50 to get a routine mammogram instead of age 40 is stirring up strong debate. The latest Rasmussen Reports survey finds that 81% of adults disagree with the panel’s recommendation. Just nine percent (8%) agree with the new guideline.

Ranch good points. Unfortunately by the time the fools in Obamaville, (also known as Washington D.C.) get finished working over our health care system no woman in this country will be able to protect themselves form Breast Cancer with early warning. The board that came up with this new suggested screening was appointed by congress and doesn't have to answer to anyone else. Guess what our wonderful congress people didn't do? They didn't set up any type of recourse system to over rule dumb decisions like this one. From reading an article in the Bee today it appears some, if not most, on this board aren't doctors. I really would have wanted a non medical doctor the have decided what my late wife could or couldn't have in the way of test. Sure I would have. I suggest we refer the members of this board to the DEATH COMMITTEE they are creating when they need medical treatment in the future.

I don't know why I bother, but your rant is without merit. While I respect the personal pain you are expressing, and agree that the recent reports from a national study group are wrong, your unwarranted attack on healthcare reform is out of line.

In fact, the recommendations for fewer and later prostate and breast cancer tests are driven by the greed of the private insurance industry, not the government who is trying to find a solution. The comment about a death committee is just a baseless attack by the obama haters.

I too am upset with the recent recommendations, but I support the Obama administration in it's attempt to solve a very difficult problem. No, I do not think they will get everything right when it comes to healthcare reform. There is too much pressure from the special interests, the lockstep opposition and even from people who just can't seem to agree.

I suggest that your anger and pain would be better directed in a more positive way. This will be my last comment on this thread.

Opinions are good to have.

In fact, the recommendations for fewer and later prostate and breast cancer tests are driven by the greed of the private insurance industry,Did you know that the Fortune 500 lists Insurance Companies as 35 on the list of percentage of Profit Margin? Tupperware, Hersheys and Yahoo all have a greater Profit Margin. I'm confused, would not early detection be cheaper for an Insurance Company that treatment? not the government who is trying to find a solution. The Guidelines were issued by The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force was established by the U.S. Public Health Service in 1986 and is now sponsored by the Department of Health and Human Services' Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. The comment about a death committee is just a baseless attack by the obama haters.

Curious, can you define an "obama hater" for me? Go slow, please.

I too am upset with the recent recommendations, but I support the Obama administration Who wrote the Bills? The two Bills are miles apart. in it's attempt to solve a very difficult problem. No, I do not think they will get everything right when it comes to healthcare reform. We don't get to pick and choose, it is all or nothing. There is too much pressure from the special interests You can count me as a "Special Interest", the lockstep opposition 30 Congressional Democrats joined the Republicans in Voting "No". The Republican's in the Senate and House have introduced over 48 Bills aimed at Health Care Delivery and Reform. What's your thoughts on any of them? and even from people who just can't seem to agree.

Last Major Poll I saw had 48% of Americans happy with their Health Care while 36% were not. 58% were against any kind of Government Health Care.

I suggest that your anger and pain would be better directed in a more positive way. Any advice as to what a "more positive way" would be? Doing nuttin? This will be my last comment on this thread.
Too bad, but keep reading the thread. Knowledge, and a pleasant outlook, are good for your Health.

ObamaCare: Let the Rationing Begin

by Dr. David Janda
Last week, the Federal Government Ivory Tower trumpeted important news. One of its illustrious Task Forces has decided that women in their 40’s would be the first to experience “Medical Darwinism.”

The United States Preventive Services Task Force, comprised of 16 appointees, decreed that:

1. Women in their 40’s no longer need routine yearly mammograms

2. Women aged 50-74 are to have mammograms only every other
year

3. Self breast exams are no longer to be done at any age

Of note, this Task Force does NOT have even one member who is a cancer specialist or oncologist, let alone a breast cancer specialist. This panel based its recommendations NOT on comprehensive new clinical studies or research, but rather on computer projections of certain data points. A review of previous recommendations by the same Federal Government reveals that these recommendations are diametrically at odds with recommendations made just six months ago. So, what changed in six months?

New studies? No. What changed was the introduction of the Obama-Pelosi-Reid Health Care Reform legislation, whose heart and core is based on rationing and denying care. (Note the omission of the word “soul.”) This method is the most inhumane and unethical means of cutting costs.

Let’s NOT let this Panel’s rationing objective get in the way of the real facts about breast cancer:

1. Breast Cancer is the number 1 killer of women globally…..500,000 women will die this year

2. Seventeen percent of Breast Cancer deaths occur in women diagnosed in their 40’s

3. Twenty-two percent of Breast Cancer deaths occur in women diagnosed in their 50’s

4. One of the leading factors in INCREASED survival rates in breast and other types of Cancer is based on EARLY diagnosis and intervention.

5. Those countries with higher death rates from Cancer have health care delivery systems based on rationing tests and treatments.

The recommendations made by the “Ivory Tower” Federal Panel do not even pretend to address these five points. However, they are completely in line with The Obama-Pelosi-Reid Health Care Legislation agenda— to deny and ration care as a means to cut costs.

On Sunday, November 22, Fox News Sunday interviewed Senator Arlen Specter, who was a Democrat before he was Republican before he was a Democrat. Senator Specter let the “secret agenda” of Obama-Pelosi-Reid slip . When questioned on the fact that The Senate Bill cuts $500 Billion in Medicare spending over ten years, yet in ten years there will be 30 percent more people in Medicare, Senator Spector stumbled. He admitted that Congress has NEVER cut Medicare benefits in its history and then confessed, “This Bill has a provision….a CURE….in how we can CUT Medicare—a Commission.” That’s right, a non-elected Commission will be appointed by The President. Starting in 2015, this Commission will oversee Medicare and its expenditures, but this Commission will NOT be accountable to the public. Initially, it will oversee cuts to Medicare Advantage, the same program that services 10 million Seniors. Using this type of panel to make such cuts, when it is NOT accountable to or elected by the public, is like bombing an enemy from 40,000 feet…..destruction occurs but you don’t see their faces. And, by 2019, ALL limits are off, and every American can become the target of the carpet bombing.

The bad news is that through this legislation authored by Obama-Pelosi-Reid, every American is facing more than one bomber. Through the hidden health care portion of The Stimulus Bill we are facing a squadron of bombers: The Federal Coordinating Council of Comparative Effectiveness Research, The National Coordinator of Health Information Technology Office, and The Medicare Commission in The Health Care Bill.. Their mission is to deny and ration care, and, as stated in The Stimulus Bill, “To guide medical decisions at the time and place of care.” Say so long to your privacy, doctor-patient privilege, choice, and control over your health care options and access.

Today it is mammogram screening tests. Tomorrow it will be the rationing and denial of treatment, if Obama-Pelosi-Reid have their way. Every American will become a victim of their rationing boards. Faceless, unaccountable, and unelected, these commissions will control 17% of this country’s GNP, and 100% of your health care options.

So, how is that “Hope” and “Change” looking so far?

Healthcare reform is such a political buzz word right now and does not accurately reflect the reality of what is going on.

The current legislation floating around does very little for healthcare. All it does is reform health insurance. There is a big difference. I would prefer our law makers attempt to make healthcare less expensive and eliminate waste.

wakeupcall there is no need to do a hit-n-run with this topic. Stick around and talk about it. This is an important and expensive issue that affects all of us. I am sure people reading this will appreciate various perspectives.

Wakeup I guess you can consider my post as a rant that’s your prerogative. I wonder if you would consider it a rant if you really opened your eyes to what is taking place. There is no free lunch and the controlling party in Congress seems to think that any one who owns a business is wealth beyond means.

Wakeup what is happening in Obamaville isn’t health care reform. You are correct there is too much pressure from the special interests, but right now the biggest special interest group is known as the Left Wing of the Democratic Party. When you develop a 2000 page bill and don’t allow any time for the members of congress to even read what you are voting on there is no way you can call it REFORM. The vote, with very few exceptions, was right down party lines and if you believe those who voted for it weren’t following the instruction of the party leadership then you are unbelievable naive. The Democratic Party is fully intent in establishing Universal Health Care for you me and every other American. They are not offering reform they are out to attain their own agenda. If this was in fact true Health Care Reform they would include themselves as participants instead they are excluding themselves and will have their own medical program. If it’s really good enough for the rest of us, then why isn’t it good enough for them? Every country with a socialized health care system has forms of rationing to keep the cost down. My present coverage allows me, with my Doctors, to decide what is best for me and I believe that’s what every aware American is really looking for. Like I said “Does the system need repair? Yes it does.” However, it doesn’t need to be destroyed to accomplish those fixes.

I own the majority interest in a small business. When I started this company I didn’t take a salary for the first five years. To some that might should unbleivable, however, there was something more important and that was providing health care for those we employed we didn’t have to but we did. Today that money could be going right into my pocket, but instead it goes to the welfare of those who work with us. Today we employ 16 people which helps them support their families and we offer health insurance to each and every one of them. That cost us about $10,000 a month and we gladly pay it because we feel our people deserve it, but this may not be good enough for the Socialist in Congress. They are talking about taxing us further to pay for their universal plan.

Your comments about the greed of private insurance companies is some what justified as they need to be brought under control. One thing you don’t seem to realize that if it weren’t for those same private insurers there would have never been health insurance. Fixing this industry can be accomplished without destroying it and our health care system in the process. What I’m looking for is some middle ground and that seems to be totally lacking from the submissions presented by the Democratic Party.

For your sake and millions of others I hope you don’t require serious medical help in the future because what you might specifically need may not be available under the proposed Health Care Reform.

By the way you suggesting I direct my anger in a more positive way is way off base. It isn’t anger and pain, it’s looking at the real world and how it affects people in it. The people who work with us think my way is very positive. They just love working for a company that is prospering in a down economy, because of how positive we are in approaching our business and they know their jobs and benefits are safe unless the people in Obamaville screw them up.

Kathryn Brodrick will be discussing Healthcare Reform tomorrow in her "Commmentary".

It is difficult for me to consider anything presented as "Commmentary" as being serious in thought.

Butt thatz jus mee.

Ms. Brodrick will state "The healthcare reform bill isn't perfect, but it's a powerful start to providing medical access to everyone and getting the cost under control."

Two questions, Ms. Brodrick:

1. Who, exactly, is not receiving health care now?

2. Point out anything in the 2,000 page Bill that helps to bring the cost of Health Care under control.

She also talks about "a small minority of those who thought it was a bad idea".

Ms. Brodrick, the only bi-partisan support was against the Health Care Bill. Democrats crossed the line to vote with Republicans. You forgot to mention that.

Ms. Brodrick, the last Poll conducted by Rassmussen has 54% opposed and only 41% in favor.

A March 22 Gallup Poll showed 48% against and 45% in favor.

"Small minority"?

In the end of her "Commmentary" she writes:

"The lies will continue to be promulgated, the screeching will go on, the childish tantrums will continue to be thrown and the level of hysteria from the noise machine will rise".

"Childish tantrums"?

Maybe so, but even a Child can spell "Commentary".
