CSD Security Options

Not sure it is wise to start a new thread on security, but here it goes. I just saw Karen’s story and based on the few comments quoted I would like to commend Ed Crouse, Bobbi Belton, and Greg Remson. I agree that our officers should be indemnified when performing their duties and I think all three agreed on that point.

Crouse gave 4 choices for the board.

1. Have patrol officers continue to function as security officers.
2. Expand service through legislation to enforce county and state laws within the district, which would take “a couple years” to accomplish.
3. Assume more authority by having a police department, expanding powers to police.
4. Do nothing, close the security operation down and give it over to RMA.

I think it is important that RMO members give their opinions so the board can take into account the residents desires. Is it possible to give our opinions on security and not have this turn into a cat fight? I know it can be done.

It's only 19 votes so far, but I thought for sure "Do nothing, close the security operation down and give it over to RMA." would get near no votes.

Hopefully with more SSD patrols/visibility.

Or people need to call SSD when crimes take place instead of security.
