Default complaint about signs

Did anyone read the complaint on rm.com about the signs that are posted when you drive into the north? this is what it said:

"I don't know if anyone else feels the way I do about the temporary signs (for ETC, Country Club events, etc) being posted at the North entrance. I thought there was a CCR prohibiting these kinds of signs. I feel they are unsightly, look tacky, not professional.
I realize that our Community Board is dilapidated, doesn't hold much information, but it is the place that these kinds of things should be advertised. The other venues for advertising are the RiverValley Times, flyer at the shopping center and the community cable station.
Perhaps we need a new digitized sign for community event use. What do you think? "

I read that and thought about the signs... I like them. Especially if I've been wondering when a certain event will be, or if I have been out of town, I drive in and find out whats comin up. I also think they look nice, I haven't seen a "tacky" one yet. i'm sorry to COMPLAIN, but god all people do around here is COMPLAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree I like seeing the up and coming events as I come in - for one that is the only way I remember to mark them on my calendar since I think I have the memory of a gnat.

A digital board would be nice and actually save the different groups from having to make signs for each event which would be a plus. But I would put it on the incoming side of the gate rather than the outgoing side so that people see it as they come into RM rather than as they are leaving.

Didn't read that at dotcom, but since it's "improved" I don't read much over there anyhow!

All that said, the ARC is the one granting permission to post signs! They have a criteria that must be met (signs must be the same size... 2x6), and go thru ARC before they can be posted and then have a time frame that they can be posted.

I wouldn't say the "reader board" is "dilapidated" but you can't get as much eye-catching info on there as you can with a banner! The banners are NOT up forever, and they simply are advertising things for all of us to participate in! I read the RVT too! See stuff there and then forget about it until I see the banner at the gates! They help to remind me of all the things that are put on primarily by VOLUNTEERS in our community and the need to get off my hind end and either participate or acknowledge the fact that many people are working hard to do something for the greater good rather than sit around and crab about stuff.

Sheesh.

yes. part of my problem with the existing board (besides tiny print) is that I can only glance at it while crossing a slightly tricky intersection where I really ought to be looking for masses of steel hurtling at me or wayward pedestrians in my path.

One tiny possible glitch: do we own ANY land to the right of the curbing at the North Entrance? Or is every inch of that along there Parcel One, neither RMA's nor annexed? Surveying out here being what it is......

I know volunteers do the readerboards; problem is length of time they are kept up. Not sure, but last I looked, readerboard coming out the South Gate still had 4th of July activities! The colorful banners do serve as a great reminder and are generally removed shortly after the event occurred. If memory serves me correctly, RMA discussed the sign issue at great length 3-4 years ago. I think they're fine the way they are and help keep us all informed about community activities.

I also like the banners....they are eye catching and easy to quickly digest the message presented.
As for a digitized sign, I think the cost would be a problem as well as programming to keep the info up to date. Usually there are 2 or 3 banners at the entrance so you would need a rather large digital sign to give the events a view as cars roll in.
I think the ARC does a good job of policing the banners and none are tacky looking.
As for the sign boards, they are useless....in spite of the efforts of those who maintain them. You can't read them from a car leaving the compond.

RMA does a good job of regulating the signs. They let the groups know when the signs can go up. There is a waiting line and there is a limit to the number of signs. For the groups that utilize these signs for their events, nothing beats them.
I can speak only for myself when I say it worked for the Rotary Luau event. I know of no other way to let the community know of our events. I am pleased the community tolerates the banners, which allows us to earn money so we can return money back to the community.

I know not everyone gets online or visits RMO, but feel free to post any community event here.
