Default Cattle In Rancho Murieta

I was reading this weeks River Valley Times and I see from the Security Log that there seems to be a problem of Pesky Bovines slipping thru the wire boardering Rancho Murieta.

I don't know the layout; is this into someone's yard or just into undeveloped areas?

Normally, in the Cattle World, the Owner of the Property being Leased is responsible for maintaining the Fence for the Cattle Owner.

I know it sounds convoluted, but that is partly what Cattle Owner is paying Property Owner for with Cattle Owners Grazing Fees.

Now, from what I read, you'all are returning poor lost Bessie, or in this case Ferdinand, back to his rightfull location and then fixing the fence, at least one of the Organizations with Initials, RMD, ADM, ATM, whatever, is fixing the fence.

My question is this, are all ya'all Leasing Land for Grazing or is this some sorta other agreement?

Maybe you are just "Fencing Out", another Cattle Country Law.

Interesting note: A Neighboring Property Owner once approached me and asked me who owned the Cattle on his Property!

His second question was would I be interested in fixing his fence, so my Cattle would not get onto his Property (I was repairing my Fence at the time).

He was driving a Jag.

I drive a Ford.

(Gawd, I hope I don't have to have Matt ask somebody else for me)

From what I know Ranch, there is one rancher who doesn't seem to want to fix his fence...his cattle get out all the time and wander over on Rancho Murieta property....our guys have to herd them back....I helped the Security guys do that one time...the cattle were all over Stonehouse Park, and Stonehouse road...it was a real mess....our association, RMA, is the one that is repairing the fences as best as they can but it is really not their responsibility...they just don't want the cattle in here at the parks...safety issue!!!!! Hope this info helps....

Well what do you know. An answer for you HQ and you didn't have to go ask the guy across the street.

Oh, and for the record. Matt solicited questions.

Nope, Moms just gave me all the info she has.

Why isn't The Property Owner tending his fences?

Forget the Cattle Owner, that ain't gonna happen.

Conversely, why is RMA or whoever fixing Fence for him/her/them?

I can see where Cattle could pose a Safety Issue. They could come back spray painted or with their glass broken out.

Matt, could you do me a favor and find out for me?

So wait, deer and mountain lions, etc. can wonder through Rancho Murieta freely because we are a "preserve" (with big quotes around preserve), but cattle can't come in? Where's the justice in that?

Also, how do we know who the cattle belongs to since Security can't stop and detain? Do we have to wait for animal control to show up?

(That's tongue in cheek, by the way, TDS, so please let's not go off into a dissection of the authority, rights, duties, training, wages, etc. of a Security Officer vs. a cop vs. an animal control officer.)

Why don't you call the property owner and ask?

Just killing time before I can justify getting out of the office. About 15 more minutes, I figure.

Love the sarcasm, classic.
