Default Cable TV ballot in the mail...who lied?

I finally received my cable TV ballot from RMA.

Despite the repeated assurance from John and Wilbur, the ballot tells me that only those of us who choose to remain will be required to maintain the system. It can go to hell as far as they are concerned and they won't pay. Am I wrong? "..all cost..including maintenance and equipment must be borne solely by user fees..."

I feel like l have been left hanging out in the cold.

I brought that up during our other forum discussion on the cable system. I came in late to the discussion, but if you want to read their response go back and take a look. (page 28, RMA Cable News)

Business can be cruel if you have been getting something for far under what the market will bear. Marketing, packaging, and management of the system will be the decider as to whether it survives or not. For me its still a bargain even if its fifty bucks a month. The future is going to surprize everyone. What I find difficult to understand is why there has been so little marketing and comparisons with the costs and content of Dish or DirecTV. I look forward to a future in this community where this issue is settled.

By their own numbers, the cost of cable to those who choose to keep the current system will increase.

And that is NOT a "chicken little" scenario. Just pay attention to what Dick Cox has said in the board meetings recently.

Maybe John or George can give us a breakdown of all those other smokin' hot cable deals out there. 50 channels for $32 is a great deal and that's not what we will have if Freedom of Choice passes.

I agree with you that RMA cable has so far been under market. Until recently it was worth what we paid. I do not mind paying a competitive price for a good product. I also agree that it has been poorly managed and marketed.

My concern is that John and Wilbur have continued to claim that all members will be required to help preserve the cable infrastructure. That doesn't appear to be the case. Once it is left to decay, we will all have to pay.

As one of Max's VP choices, I agree with him on this issue. For those of you who have a HDTV you all have seen how sharp the picture is and how many extra channels there are even with our basic tier. How many on this site have asked to get one free month for all of the other channels that are available now plus the music channels to see if you might be interested in coming back?

When was the last time you saw a representative of a political position accurately state the other side's position? That is not how it works.

You are spot on with the poor marketing. My family and I moved here 5 weeks ago. I wasn't aware that cable was included until I went to get the bar codes for our vehicles. I could not find information about the channel lineup, HD, or premium channels. Our house had a dish on it so that's the route we chose. You would think as a new resident the association would have made some type of effort to let us know of the the cable system and all of the options.

P.S. This is my first post to RM Online. Yeah!
