Wow, I expected to see lots of posts about water and can't imagine we were the only ones seeing it. Still *some* dirt particles this morning but maybe just in our pipes now. Our master bathtub (which drains sloooooowly) looked the worst. Had a layer of black/dark brown sand/dirt on it. The water didn't smell bad to me. Well, I guess I ran it all through our house and saved the rest of RM!

Makes me appreciate the hit of chlorine when I turn on my faucets. I know there isn't a darned thing living in that water, since it smells like a public swimming pool. I'll take chlorine over anything brown! Ick.

I live on Lago Dr and we didn't have dirty water, so, I agree, it mostly went to your house!! My husband worked for the city Utilities Department until he retired, and he has said that actually when you smell chlorine, it doesn't mean that there is too much in the water, but not enough. It doesn't make sense but there is a explanation that has to do with chlorine.

I couldn't think of a better answer suited for our community. Ass backwards but makes complete sense.

I have read that too, regarding pool maintenance.
We did not have bad water here, up on the north end of the north side.

No.

I put a Zebra face in my avatar, does that help? Think black and white, stripes, etc.

Well my hubby was soaking in the tub last night and the water was kind of a light yellow brown...I asked if he was that dirty and he said the water was the color before he got in Yuck and to think I took a shower maybe 15 minutes before.

This might be a good time for my semi annual plug for good water filter systems.

I've seen some household-sized water filter units advertised in the past. They filter all the water entering your home's drinking water system. The problem with those systems is that they're generally expensive to install and maintain, or at least more so than a portable water filter system.

As far as the odor of chlorine in water goes, it's the chlorine that is actually dissolved in the water that does the work. You won't smell it. The chlorine that doesn't dissolve is what you smell. If you put enough chlorine in contact with water to create a 2 PPM chlorine level and that chlorine doesn't dissolve into the water, you're not going to get 2 PPM results in the water... you might get 1 PPM, for example, and an odor of chlorine. Not ideal...
