Apply that same logic to the continued whining and backbiting about the MBA then. A difficult decision was made, it's been sustained by legal opinions. Yet Mike and now Max and others here drag it out to try to discredit their opponents. That's different, huh?

Actually, it IS different in one crucial way. The decision about what to do about TV is not yet made. Therefore the time to STFU and deal with a concluded decision has not yet come. Which IS different than taking potshots over the MBA five years later.

The MBA was negotiated in secrecy and signed by your wife and some of your buddies, so I can understand your position to stand up for them and discredit the naysayers. But that doesn't change the fact that it was a crappy deal and should have been negotiated differently. I'm not saying I or anyone else could have done it better, but it is something those 7 members are going to have to deal with and live with as long as they are around. Might not be fair but they are the ones who did the deal. I have a feeling this cable thing is a done deal unless you or somebody can find a way to renegotiate the MBA, and I can't figure out why you all seem to think the developers are going to go to the table. If you have an explantion for that I would love to hear it. Because I just don't see it happening.

The fact that it has been sustained by legal opinions doesn't make it a good agreement for the community. That means nothing. Courts have upheld all kinds of bad deals. And now you defend a document that was negotiated in secret and disclosed publically only after it was entered in to.

As I have said before, pay attention to the few who will defend the MBA. Almost all are in one small connected group of family and friends. Most others think the MBA as written and negotiated stinks.

I have no "opponents" but it is the MBA, not me, that discredits the people who were involved in it.

One more time the MBA was signed by Paul Gumbinger and Donna Newall. Since Mr Gumbinger is still on the board why not ask him to defend it?

If Paul was on here trying to defend it I would. What about you John, do you think it's a good deal for the community?

The 7 signatures are likely not a fair way to indicate "whose fault" it is. Some of the signers didn't negotiate any more then me or (most of) you. In fact, I think some of the signers were in office less than a year, and certainly weren't "in" on the early stages of negotiation that ultimately paved the way for the ultimate outcome. Inertia takes over on those things, and those at the back end of that momentum rarely have a fighting chance to make a difference.

I still maintain that the MBA is not "as bad" as some paint it. But it certainly isn't as good as it could have been. I'll remain on the fence/middle ground on that "good/bad" false dichotomy. Bring on the water boarding (okay, don't).

Wilbur, when I said that what happened at the last board meeting with the yelling at each other doesn't happen at other places, I was referring to County and City meetings, and even Senate and House meetings. This kind of behavior would have been dealt with quickly. Matt, I'm sure you could tolerate the verbal attacks; I was saying that you or anyone else shouldn't have to. I totally agree that a stun gun would be an excellent threat if people didn't obey the rules!!!!

No! A paint gun I say! Paint gun! Then we can promote Plaza prosperity by having naughty attendant's suits sent to our local cleaners. And use the paint gun to hunt vandals and thieves at night. Maybe public stocks at Stonehouse? That might boost snack shack sales..
