I just got home. Stopped at the Mexican place for dinner (us and a bunch of other Southies). I drove my truck across the yellow bridge (I know, not supposed to do that, but there it is). Lots of lookie-loos in their golf carts along #18. Saw two Amador ambulances when I was turning on to Jackson Rd. from Folsom Blvd, probably around 5:40p. No lights/sirens. I could see CSD and KCRA van at the driveway to the ranch just this side of the river. Tow truck was there too. Nobody going thru. Sad, sad, sad.

Looks like it's time to widen and realign SR16.

The stretch of 16 between the South gate and the bridge has need it for a very long time... I've lost count of the fatalities in that area.

When the "big" fix for SR 16 was done in the early 90's, it was from a plan of ten or more years prior (the extra 1/4 cent sales tax Sac Co assesses for road improvements). When the plan was devised, RMS was not even on the horizon and the improvements stopped at the North Gate. The one mile stretch from North to South is pretty dicey, with at least one difficult curve and minimal shoulders. Maybe we (Sac Co BOS) need to contact the Jackson Rancheria, as their clientele impact our roadways a lot (not to mention three daily shifts commuting to both Preston and Mule Creek in Ione). The Rancheria has built a new fire station and provided a ton of money for Amador County road mitigation. Hmmm. . .but they need "our" road to get the gamblers up there.
Sadly, the last renewal on the 1/4 cent road improvement sales tax did not include addtional improvements on Jackson Hwy. Ever notice when you hit the Amador County line on 16 the speed limit raises to 65 mph and the road widens, providing a very smooth ride?!
There's gotta be some pork barrel money someplace. . .
If you really need to get over to the North from the South for the concert, you can go east, make a left on Latrobe Road, and circle back around to Stonehouse.

I agree that road needs work, and Amador County needs to pay their fair share.

'Tis true you can get to Clementia by way of Latrobe Rd (take Old Sacramento Road, it's only 8 miles east of here). You can go up to White Rock, or take the other Latrobe Rd. that comes out at South Shingle. If you were going to go that way, you should have left by 6p. It would take you just about an hour even if you took the dirt Latrobe Rd. past the backside of RHQ's property.
