Karen has a great tool - the text message broadcast system she tested awhile back. Wasn't CSD working on something similar? If we had a community emergency plan for responding to highway closures via our RM Volunteer Cart Brigade and a text message went out about a highway closure, those who are able to could proceed in their carts to the staging areas to see if they're needed.

Much work went into an emergency plan many years ago. It is of course long since forgotten. This actually could become a part of, or the seed of, its revival.
It's a very good idea Wilbur.

IMHO the Davis Ranch area is where the WORST drivers in Ca go to demonstrate their skills/lack of skills. I see some of the stupidest examples of drivers around there. When I was teaching my son to drive we used that parking lot and area as an example of good and bad decisions.

I have to agree with that statement!!!!! Every time I go by there. I hold my breath and slow down....certainly someone will pull out in front of me!!! They do it all the time....or, they decide to pull in without any warning and almost cause a rear ender.....

Does anyone know what happened this morning? Are the people involved ok? I know the kids were getting a free pass on being tardy to class this morning.

Because of those youngsters that drive themselves to Pleasant Grove High-my son included-I called the school this morning to give them a heads up-that RM students may arrive late(after calling my son to make sure he was not a part of it). I also emailed my son's first period teacher who emailed me back and told me it was very helpful because he has more than few RM kids in his first period class. The school accepts this from a parent much better than a kid coming in late-"I'm late because there was an accident on....." This way they don't get the tardy check mark and then after a couple the dreaded "REFERRAL." So-in the future in case I don't see the info about an accident on Jackson (and we know it's a year round event) if others with HS kids could maybe give the school a heads up-that would be great.

I take kids to Albiani in the a.m. on my way to work. Traffic was stacking up in front of CRES. We took Dillard, to Green, to Wilton Rd. where we c.r.a.w.l.e.d. to the intersection at Grantline. I called KAMS on my way in, and they'd already gotten the word, so kids weren't being marked tardy.

Back to the shuttle service....How about telling people to meet at the parks (Riverview & front north park) if they can't get to their respective homes. All those with carts can head to the park and pick people up?

PM coming Mama.

All I know there were some idiots out there driving their cars on the cart path like they owned the path and going fast. To top it off, ran into 2 cars with vistor passes. But many residents too...

Going back to the South behind #1 green, a truck comes down not even trying to slow down and would have hit us if we did not get on the grass. We got out of the cart and confronted them and they looked straight ahead and kept on going.

Dark outside, a lot of people walking/carting on the golf path, and cars driving fast too on the cart path, a recipe of another accident!!

The internal bridges really should not just become an alternate self-help route for all car and truck traffic. That many members feel entitled to use them as such when there is a problem on the highway is another reason why an alternative in the form of a shuttle service should be developed.
