Ranch, what does this mean in layman's terms? I remember several years ago, when I still worked at the bank, Marion Rader told me that there would be huge trucks going on Scott Rd in the near future. I just found out recently incidentally, that she pasted away last year. I was saddened to hear that news.

Maybe someone else can get the Web Site to work for them:

www.dera.saccounty.net

What I have in front of me is labeled:

Public Notice Of Availability.

I guess the Teichert Quarry (the largest of three on Scott) is going ahead at rapid speed.

This talks about Rezoning 580 Acres from Ag to Surface Mining, constructing a Public Access road within The Public Right of Way N. to White Rock Road, and the construction of an underground conveyer passage beneath Scott Road.

Conditional Use Permits, Reclamation Plans, Enroachment Permits, General Plan Amendments, blah, blah, blah.

Time to start that Helo Service outa that Airport over there.

This is one of three hard rock mining proposal coming for the east county area. Teichert's is not the biggest. There will be lots more discussion over the next few months (and so that everyone knows, I have worked with or around Teichert for years).

One thing that us commuters should know, is that the Teichert proposal does not put trucks on "our" Scott Road --access to the site would be via E.Bidwell/Scott Rd from Highway 50, White Rock towards Rancho Cordova and via the existing Grant Line Plant (there will be a conveyor moving rock to that plant from the proposed quarry).

Let me clarify my "biggest" statement. Teichert's may be the "biggest" in total size of the land that is owned and discussed in the project description, but the quarry/plant portion of the project will not be the largest in terms of permitted years, depth or area. Much of the land will serve as buffer from Scott Road & White Rock/open space, etc.

There will be local hearings and meetings upcoming where you will be able to get a lot of answers about the details of this project.

The DEIR is about the size of a dozen Old and New Testaments. The Teichert and Granite operations are going to be hardrock type mining. BOOM! I see the need for the Teichert and Granite projects because of the need for gravel but not so sure about DeSilva Gates. Also not so sure DG can mitigate the road impacts on Scott but then old Don will do his best to take care of his buddies the Moshers. Hopefully the rest of the BOS understands this and eventually denies DG. With Teichert and Granite in operation it will also pretty much guarantee Barton Ranch stays at AG 80.
I'm told Teichert's going to pull water from their Grantline Rd. operation. Why? Because there isn't any to meet the needs and requirements. They say it won't cause a syphon from contaminates at Aerojet but then why did the County mandate Sunrise /Douglas to pull their water from the Excelcior Water Field. From a laymans perspective this would cause a problem if they plan on developing the land south of the dump (College)and drawing water within. Very contradictory. Water, water, water or should I say no water, water, water.
And HQ. KABOOM!

Let's make it so I can understand it:

This will or will not impact the traffic on Scott Road, reguardless of who "Ownes" it, and Gravel Trucks on White Rock Road will not cause a problem to Commuters?

The original Sac Bee article stated the traffic impact would see just over 500 gravel trucks a day-- but that, I believe was with all three aggregate companies active.

Heya HQ... I just put in a call to the OCIT (County Help Desk) so they know (finally) that the DERA site is down. Hopefully they'll get it up here shortly.

You'd think with their servers virtualized they wouldn't have this problem.... but this is, again, the County. I've learned to set my bar L O W.
