We are not "World Travelers".

The Hotel advertises "Free In-Room Wireless" with a "Premium Service Available".

I have no clue what that means, I guess I will call them.

Also, with a "JackPack Connector" the Plasma TV can be used as a Computer Screen.

What in the he77 is a "JackPack Connector"?
The in-room wireless is almost self-setting. What you do when you get to your hotel room is turn the computer on, and tell it to turn on it's wireless card. It will search out local connections and should connect to the service automatically. It'll give you a "Connected Wireless" type of balloon to tell you that you're connected.

Now here's the fun part. Once that's done, open a browser and go to any site you can think of. Google, for instance. You're likely to get a page that intercepts your request and asks you to either connect for free or pay for a faster connection. Just click on the Free button and you're likely to be on the 'net. I recently was at a hotel that offered a similar service... and that's how they did it. The free service was a little slow, but it did what I needed it to do.

My laptop is much more ancient than yours and it worked just fine. Yours will do just fine.

just my 2 cents worth Ranch. When my hubby and I went to our timshare, they offered free wireless. They gave us a password to use in order to get onto their service which was required to use it.

Last year at a Resort in Playa Del Carmen our Resort had Wi-FI everywhere.

There was never a Password involved and I wondered all week what would stop Jose Smith from walking in and using the Free Wi-Fi. (Old Laptop).

Discussing it on the flight home The Lovely and Gracious Nurse Ratchet reminded me there were very large Myan Warrior types everywhere looking for the yellow bracelets that we were issued.

She was right (of course); I doubt Jose would get past those Big Dewds.

When you get there, make sure that the wireless on/off switch is in the "ON" position when you need to use it. Chances are it's just an enable/disable the wireless software button... which is exactly the same as going into the control panel, selecting the wireless adapter, and clicking "disable".

Usually, the sign-on process is pretty painless and should guide you through the process, no matter what kind of system they use. If they're offering free internet, they're going to make it as easy as possible. Just be careful to select the "free" option if they offer two... Sometimes they'll offer a paid service at the same time.
