How to remove last name from gmail?

How can I send and receive gmail without showing my last name? Thanks in advance.

Click on settings in the upper right hand corner. Then click on the tab that says "Accounts and Import". Look for the line that says "Send mail as:". At the end of that line click "edit info". Then put whatever name you want in the text box and hit save changes.

Thank you Matthew. I tried that several times before I posted my S.O.S. and I even rebooted, and for some reason, could not get it to work. After I received your note, I tried again and voila! It works. Go figure. I don't know what I was doing wrong before. Thanks again, your help is much appreciated! PandaPanda
