Cable & Broadband System Rebuild Underway

The long awaited and much anticipated rebuild and upgrade of the Rancho Murieta Cable & Broadband Network is underway! The project is expected to be completed by the end of October.

As part of this project, all 33+ miles of cable & fiber, as well as over a thousand pieces of field equipment will be tested and replaced when needed. Rebuilding an active operating cable/broadband system is a little like trying to change the tires or repair the engine on your car…while you are driving.

Sadly, there is no way to remove and replace the field equipment without disrupting services. Both the broadband internet service and the cable service will see disruptions in service during the rebuild. We are VERY SORRY to those that use our services for work related issues and while we know how important the service is to you, we just must do this work to rebuild our aging network. Without this work we would see a continued decline in the service level and more unplanned outages in the future. We have wireless service available in our office and will work to find a place residents can bring their laptop and work from if needed when their area is being worked on.

Katherine L. Albiani Middle School’s New Principal

Dear Parents, Students, and Community of Katherine L. Albiani Middle School,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Melanie Dopson and I am honored to have been selected by the Board of Education as the new Principal of Katherine Albiani Middle School. I am excited to be given this opportunity to support parents, teachers, and staff in continuing the outstanding academic achievement and excellence for all students attending Katherine Albiani Middle School.

I have dedicated my entire educational career to supporting the students of the Elk Grove Unified School District. In 1997, I helped open T.R. Smedberg Middle School and Sheldon High School as a teacher and coach. I was fortunate to teach a variety of science courses, as well as AVID. I also coached volleyball at the middle school and softball at the high school. Since January 2005, I have worked as the vice principal at Toby Johnson Middle School.
