The rainy weather finally gave in, but the Rancho Murieta Bandits (1-0) did not. With a fresh sense of purpose, and with fresh faces on the field, the Bandits pulled off a convincing 6-0 victory over the Sierra Highlanders (0-1).

The game started in traditional fashion. Though the Highlanders banged out a lead off single, Matt “Splint” Corsaut quickly retired the next three Highlanders on grounders to the tenders. The familiar Bandit defense was on exhibition early and often, led by second tender, Todd “Nellie” Dilbeck flashing some fancy one handed leather to bring in two of the first “hands” (outs).

In their bottom half of the initial frame, the Bandits manufactured a “vintage tally,” taking advantage of a few Highlander miscues. After aggressively advancing to third on his own, Scott “Leather” Oltmanns was knocked in by slugger Terry “T-Bone” Conway…a lead the Bandits would never surrender.

Armstrong and Getty are coming to April’s River Valley Tea Party Patriots meeting. You may love them or you may hate them, but you cannot deny they provide an entertaining drive to work on your weekday commute. I have a great deal of trouble pigeon holing these radio talk show hosts because just when you think you have them cornered ideologically they will surprise you with the irreverent view of our politicians and societal mores.

Politicians, news events, entertainers, and our societal foibles are the general targets, and a target rich environment I might add, for these two talk show hosts. They are a great success due to their ability to feed off each other so you have two for the price of one, a sort of “I can top that” witticism banter back and forth. To attempt to put a general feeling of where these two entertaining could be categorized, I think it would be safe to say they are against socialism, standard fare Republicans and Democrats and they are four square behind free speech. They are constantly in search of hypocrisy coming from any political quarter. Hypocrisy and ridiculous news events are their bread and butter fueling the show’s humor.

Due to redistricting, Rancho Murieta has lost a caring, strong advocate--Supervisor Nottoli-- and has inherited Supervisor Macglashan (who has a history of voting for non-viable development projects contrary to the overwhelming concerns of local citizens.) But there's hope: Rancho Murieta resident, Julie Sams, has thrown her hat into the ring to run for District 4, Sacramento County Supervisor.

Over the years, our neighbor, Julie Sams, has proven herself to be an excellent citizen advocate and grassroots watchdog. She's smart, caring and most of all understands that integrity should be the basis for all government decision-making.

Although the incumbent, Supervisor Macglashan, has made numerous attempts to rewrite history, most of us recall what actually occurred. Her Murieta development decisions flew in the face of 2,000 plus local signatures, and over 200 citizens who filled the county board chambers-- time and time again-- begging for help.
